Director, Clinical Operations
Summary
Oversees laboratory operations including staff management, financial performance, and strategic planning for a healthcare provider in Allentown, PA.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday; 8:00a-4:30pAdministratively directs the operations of the assigned laboratory divisions to include human resource performance management and development, billing/reimbursement, business planning, strategic planning and project management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Develops and produces measurement tools to monitor division performance and provides these to executive management on a regular and timely basis.
- Analyzes production data and adjusts operations to meet revenue and profit goals.
- Effectively communicates/collaborates with other operating divisions to ensure execution of corporate plans and projects to include retention, growth and expansion of market share.
- Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, and coordination for new and emerging products/technologies.
- Coordinates technical product development to include estimates of potential profits and start-up cost.
- Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, marketing, and finance to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
- Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
- Communicates to executive management an overview of all products under development and their stage of development.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for effective project management with attention to resource allocation, schedule, cost, scope and quality.
- Effectively assumes sponsorship role or clearly delegates sponsorship role for all projects in division and ensures accountability for project execution and outcomes.
- Effectively manages human resources by mentoring, coaching and developing personnel. Develops an appropriate succession plan for divisions.
- Participates in Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.

Education/Experience:
Master’s degree or equivalent; or 3-5 years in a leadership position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Word and Excel), email and database software.
Business Skills
Understands basic business concepts such as revenue cycle and revenue generation, profitability, resource optimization, sales and client management.
