Director, Commodity Management (Electronic Components )
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of electronic components sourcing professionals, overseeing daily operations, performance management and career growth to enhance team efficiency.
- Develop and execute global electronic components supplier strategy, optimize supplier base to ensure supply stability, cost competitiveness and alignment with company’s long-term goals.
- Take ownership of electronic components cost reduction (via negotiation, VAVE, global sourcing) and commodity strategy execution, aligned with product and business growth needs.
- Lead high-level negotiations with key suppliers on VMI programs, long-term contracts and strategic partnerships to secure favorable terms and mitigate risks.
- Drive adoption of cutting-edge electronic component technologies, facilitating collaboration between design, R&D and suppliers to accelerate innovation.
- Act as primary liaison between internal stakeholders (design, engineering, ops, quality) and key suppliers, resolving technical, supply and quality issues proactively.
- Oversee Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs) and supplier system audits, evaluate supplier performance, drive capability improvement and ensure supply reliability.
- Manage supplier relationship and risk management, including performance evaluation, risk assessment and contingency planning to minimize supply disruptions.
- Monitor electronic components market trends and regulatory changes, providing strategic insights for data-driven sourcing decisions.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher; MBA or advanced degree in supply chain, business administration or electronics engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive electronic components commodity management experience, with at least 3 years of team leadership experience.
- In-depth knowledge of electronic components, manufacturing processes and global supply chain dynamics, with proven strategic sourcing track record.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation and leadership skills, with ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and execution capabilities, able to balance short-term operational objectives with long-term strategic growth.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) with excellent cross-cultural communication skills for global collaboration.
- Willing and able to travel frequently domestically (within China) and internationally for supplier management and market research.
- High initiative, proactive mindset and ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced electronics business environment.
- Strong business acumen and market awareness, able to identify improvement and cost optimization opportunities in electronic components sourcing.
- Proven experience in risk management, contract negotiation and cross-functional project management, focused on continuous supply chain improvement.
