Director Compliance Data Science and AI
You will lead advanced analytics and AI initiatives across AML, sanctions, KYC/KYB, customer risk rating, transaction monitoring, and SAR analytics from problem definition through production. You will translate regulatory requirements into analytical workstreams, deliver actionable findings, and drive AI-assisted workflows for coding, pipelines, investigation, and triage. You will work with ML engineers on auditable detection and risk-scoring models, mentor data scientists and analytics engineers, support delivery planning, maintain model documentation and governance standards, and lead data-science workstreams for regulatory responses and internal audits.
Responsibilities
- Lead advanced compliance analytics and AI initiatives from problem definition through production
- Translate regulatory requirements into scoped analytical workstreams and actionable findings
- Drive AI-assisted coding, automated analytical pipelines, and AI-augmented investigation and triage workflows
- Develop auditable detection models and risk-scoring systems with ML engineers
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship through code and methodology reviews
- Partner with product managers on scoping, sequencing, and effort estimation
- Maintain documentation and governance standards for compliance analytics outputs
- Lead data-science workstreams for regulatory responses and internal audit events
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in data science, quantitative analytics, or machine learning, including leadership or senior individual contributor experience in compliance or regulatory analytics
- Compliance domain experience in AML typology detection, sanctions analytics, KYC/KYB modelling, customer risk rating, or transaction monitoring
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience with supervised, unsupervised, anomaly-detection, and graph-based machine-learning methods
- MLOps and data-engineering fluency for production design discussions
- Regular use of AI tools and understanding of LLM and automation risks in compliance analytics
- Cross-functional communication with compliance officers, product managers, and engineers
- Experience mentoring data scientists and analysts
- Familiarity with model governance, explainability, and regulated-environment documentation standards
- Understanding of product delivery cycles, engineering prioritisation, and roadmaps
- Experience with regulatory examinations, enforcement responses, or formal model validation in compliance
