Job Responsibilities

Regulatory Affairs and Product Compliance

Lead the global Regulatory Affairs function and ensure the organization understands and meets applicable product safety, energy efficiency, performance, labeling, environmental, and market access requirements.

Monitor emerging regulatory trends, building codes, certification requirements, and industry standards that may affect ventilation products, connected products, controls, laboratories, claims, and product roadmaps.

Translate new or changing requirements into clear, practical guidance for Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams across new product development, sustaining engineering, private-label programs, product changes, and market expansion.

Represent the company with certification bodies, testing agencies, standards organizations, auditors, regulatory stakeholders, industry forums, and technical committees.

New Product Development Quality and Product Lifecycle Quality

Define, deploy, and continuously improve New Product Development Quality practices across the product lifecycle, from concept and development through validation, launch readiness, field performance, and end-of-life.

Establish design quality standards, product risk management routines, engineering quality KPIs, escalation processes, and decision rights that improve transparency, accountability, and speed of resolution.

Strengthen closed-loop product quality processes by connecting field data, customer feedback, warranty insights, manufacturing performance, supplier performance, and product development actions in partnership with operational quality and supplier quality owners.

Partner with site operational quality teams on systemic product issues, corrective actions, lessons learned, and preventive engineering actions.

Development and Certification Laboratories

Provide leadership for the development and certification laboratories, ensuring the right capabilities, methods, equipment, calibration processes, technical expertise, and capacity are in place to support business priorities.

Improve laboratory governance, test planning, data integrity, certification readiness, and alignment with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs.

Oversee R&D testing and validation and promote robust, repeatable test methods for ventilation performance, safety, reliability, sound, energy efficiency, controls, and certification requirements.

Build and execute laboratory capability and capital roadmaps that anticipate future technology, code, certification, and business needs while improving speed, reliability, and value to the organization.

Cross-Functional and Business Leadership

Partner with Engineering and Product Management to embed quality, compliance, safety, reliability, validation, and certification thinking early in the product development process.

Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Supplier Quality to manage systemic risks, improve launch readiness, and drive sustainable corrective actions.

Support Commercial, Service, and Customer Care teams with clear technical and regulatory guidance on customer claims, product issues, field actions, and market requirements.

Influence senior leaders with fact-based recommendations, enterprise-level trade-offs, and a balanced view of customer, regulatory, technical, operational, and business risk.

People and Financial Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop a global, multi-site organization across Regulatory Affairs, laboratories, Engineering Services, and New Product Development Quality capabilities.

Create a culture of ownership, technical excellence, proactive risk management, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Clarify roles, priorities, decision rights, performance expectations, and development plans while building succession and capability plans for critical roles.

Own operating expense and capital planning for the functions within the role, aligning investments, staffing, and technical capabilities with enterprise priorities.

What Success Looks Like

A clear global operating model for Regulatory Affairs, laboratories, Engineering Services, and New Product Development Quality collaboration is in place, understood, and used by the organization.

Product quality risks, field issues, warranty trends, compliance risks, certification timelines, laboratory capacity, and Engineering Services priorities are visible through meaningful KPIs and governance routines, with strong collaboration between New Product Development Quality and site operational quality.

Product development teams receive early, practical, and business-oriented quality, regulatory, validation, and technical guidance.

The laboratories and Engineering Services teams are trusted strategic partners for innovation, certification readiness, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement.

The organization moves from reactive issue resolution to proactive risk identification, prevention, standardization, and closed-loop learning.

The function develops strong leaders and technical experts, deploys resources against the highest-value priorities, and executes its operating and capital plans with discipline.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is considered an asset.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Compliance, Engineering, Product Development, product lifecycle quality, laboratories, or a related technical function.

Experience in HVAC, ventilation, appliances, building products, electrical products, controls, industrial products, or another regulated product environment is strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of product lifecycle quality, design quality, risk management, development gates, certification processes, validation, and field quality feedback loops; experience collaborating with operational quality, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams is preferred.

Experience working with certification bodies, testing laboratories, regulatory agencies, standards organizations, technical committees, or external auditors.

Demonstrated ability to lead global or multi-site teams, develop technical talent, manage change, and influence cross-functional stakeholders without relying solely on authority.

Ability to translate complex technical, quality, and regulatory topics into clear business recommendations and enterprise-level trade-offs for senior leaders.

Experience managing operating budgets, capital plans, priorities, and resource allocation across multiple technical functions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual English and French capability is an asset for collaboration across Canadian and U.S. teams.

Strong communicator and collaborator: simplifies complex issues and creates alignment across functions, sites, and levels of the organization.

Talent builder: develops leaders and technical capability while creating a team culture where people can do their best work.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment as required; use standard office equipment; and travel to company sites, suppliers, customers, laboratories, certification bodies, and industry meetings based on business needs.
