Job Summary
The Director of EHS Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, supporting world class safety programs, and ensuring compliance throughout GAF manufacturing facilities and operations. This position will direct the strategy and oversee the execution of safety and corporate EHS initiatives across all of GAF. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all sites have a proactive, behavior-based safety culture, and all programs, policies, training and safety methodologies reinforce that culture. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety and support other GAF and Standard Logistics EHS Staff.
Essential Duties
Define and execute a comprehensive EHS strategy that aligns with corporate business objectives and supports behavior based safety goals.
Champion and drive a proactive, zero-incident mindset and behavior-based safety culture rooted in employee engagement, transparency, and accountability across all operational sites.
Lead enterprise-wide EHS risk assessment and mitigation processes, specifically embedding Process Safety Management (PSM) and industrial hygiene best practices into daily operations.
Direct the development, implementation, and governance of integrated EHS management systems and tools, leveraging advanced data analytics and digital platforms to monitor performance, identify emerging risks, and drive data-backed corrective actions.
Ensure robust regulatory compliance and maintain governance over all GAF safety and environmental enterprise standards, policies, and management initiatives through proactive auditing and emerging regulation trend analysis.
Oversee the incident investigation and reporting process, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to conduct thorough root cause analyses and ensure effective, organization-wide implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
Lead, mentor, and coach EHS professionals and operational leadership, fostering EHS leadership through influence and ensuring high-quality, up-to-date safety and environmental training programs are deployed.

Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Safety, Engineering, or a related degree field
10 years EHS experience, 5 years management of others
Ability to effectively adapt to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on client success.
Exceptional interpersonal skills that are leveraged to build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills including the ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, and customers.
Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company.
Qualifications Preferred
Post graduate degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
