The Impact & What You'll Do
This is a critical leadership role that offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial future of S&P Global's technology landscape, specifically within product development across our key divisions. You will be a strategic financial leader, directly influencing high-level decisions and capital allocation for innovative, technology-centric product initiatives. Partnering closely with the VP, FP&A Enterprise Product Technology and senior technology and product development leadership, you will incorporate diverse perspectives from divisions like S&P Global Ratings, S&P Global Dow Jones Indices, and S&P Global Energy, to drive strategic projects critical to the enterprise.
You and your team of 5 will assess market and business conditions, bringing together budget and estimate numbers, and medium-term plans across all S&P Global businesses to inform product development strategy. Your work will directly influence the prioritization of enterprise initiatives and capital allocation decisions for technology product development and contribute to Board and investor communications. You will advise business leaders on the financial impacts of product development decisions, adeptly navigating complex technology cost allocations within our matrixed organization with multiple divisions. This role is designed for a visionary leader passionate about driving efficiencies and optimizing financial performance through effective partnerships with technology and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Partnership & Decision Support:
Serve as the primary finance business partner to senior technology product development leadership and cross-functional teams, providing expert financial insight and decision support on strategy, investment, and resource allocation for product initiatives.
Collaborate with product development leaders to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations that align with business objectives across S&P Global divisions and drive efficiencies within technology development.
Translate product development strategy into actionable financial plans and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews, forecast calls, and strategic planning sessions.
Facilitate discussions around complex financial decisions, ensuring consideration for the unique needs of various divisions and corporate groups while promoting a unified approach to technology spending for product development.
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership for Technology initiatives and investments related to product development, providing timely models/analysis, insights, and decision support related to plans, budgets, and forecasts.
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and divisional stakeholders to optimize product development spend and drive disciplined capital allocation across technology-driven initiatives.
Support the development of financial and capital strategy in line with business performance and investor expectations.
Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis:
Direct enterprise forecasting, reporting, and planning activities specifically for technology product development, evaluating financial performance and monitoring progress towards strategic goals.
Collaborate on medium to long-term annual budgeting and estimate reporting for Enterprise FP&A, with a focus on technology spend for product innovation.
Develop and implement sophisticated financial models and forecasts that support enterprise technology product initiatives, as well as potential acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships, ensuring alignment with procurement and vendor management goals.
Improve forecast accuracy through pipeline analytics and leading indicator analysis for technology investments.
Design and track key performance metrics for technology product development investments.
Financial Reporting & Executive Communication:
Deliver clear, actionable insights to executive leadership and the Board regarding technology product development investments and performance.
Prepare monthly and quarterly analysis packages, presenting variance analysis and forward-looking projections related to technology spend.
Analyze and communicate the financial impacts of technology investments and operational decisions within product development, ensuring alignment with procurement strategies for maximum savings.
Create standardized tools, dashboards, and reports for operational visibility across the enterprise related to technology product development spend.
Proactively investigate executive leadership needs and develop tailored insights accordingly, communicating insights/reports to SVP/VP in a clear and audience-specific manner.
Support investor and earnings communications with relevant investor reports and analysis related to technology investments.
Act as the central contact for Consolidated Functional Reporting, ensuring accuracy and providing transparency to Executive Management on actions taken.
Financial Leadership & Operations:
Lead on capital management activities for technology product development, including capital allocation and share buyback support.
Drive the transformation of FP&A to meet modern best-in-class practices, defining and leading the automation agenda by implementing critical tools like Alteryx to optimize processes.
Act as the lead for FP&A for M&A activities impacting Enterprise Technology Product Development, including M&A modeling and support.
Lead select high-profile and critical projects related to product development technology, such as productivity improvements, benchmarking, and allocation strategy.
Create an environment of continuous improvement focused on controls and compliance that supports internal/external audits.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead a high-performing team of 5 financial analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and analytical rigor.
Manage and continue to upskill the capabilities of the team with clear training plans and career paths.
Ensure a comprehensive view of technology spend across the enterprise while balancing specific divisional needs, and guide both direct and indirect divisional teams to achieve a holistic understanding of technology expenditures and savings opportunities.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $126,676 to $221,434 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We're Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications:
8+ years of progressive finance experience, with a minimum of 6+ years in FP&A with a significant focus on technology sectors, particularly product development.
Proven track record of working with senior technology and divisional leadership across multiple business units (e.g., Ratings, Indices, MI, Energy), demonstrating strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior leadership.
Extensive experience, from both a finance and technology perspective, with the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), technology workforce planning, and software and application rationalization.
Proven track record of partnering effectively with procurement teams to achieve significant cost savings and optimize financial performance.
Experience managing financial operations in a large, matrixed technology organization with multiple divisions, demonstrating a deep understanding of complex technology cost attribution.
Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis, coupled with advanced Excel and financial systems experience (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan, NetSuite, Oracle EPM, Alteryx).
Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a team of financial professionals, specifically a team of 5.
Experience with Board-level reporting and in a senior position in a global company with multi-country responsibility, showcasing cross-cultural effectiveness.
Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding goals and metrics.
Experience leading through Mergers and Acquisitions and related integration processes.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
An MBA and/or CPA/Chartered Accountant is strongly preferred.
