Each sport has its own audience, buying behaviors, seasonality, and competitive landscape, and you’ll turn those market dynamics into targeted marketing strategies that drive demand and pipeline. You’ll serve as the marketing expert for your assigned sports, develop quarterly campaign strategies, and partner closely with Sales leaders who own revenue growth. If you have experience building demand in the sports software space, know how to turn market insights into actionable campaigns, and want to see the direct impact of your work on pipeline, we’d love to hear from you.
Note: This is a full-time position, and we are ideally looking for a local candidate to work in the office at our Morrisville, NC headquarters, currently hybrid work-from-home three days per week, but subject to the Company's needs and policies in the future. Open to remote, US-based candidates preferably in Eastern or Central Time Zones.
The Role
As our Director, Growth Strategy, you'll report to the VP of Growth and lead marketing strategy and pipeline growth across a group of sports, currently including hockey, swimming, and motion sports. You'll partner closely with sales and sport leadership to understand each market, identify growth opportunities, and develop strategies that reach the right audiences with the right messages at the right time. Working alongside another Growth Strategy Director and our Integrated Marketing team, you'll shape campaigns that align with each sport's unique needs, competitive landscape, and seasonal calendar. You'll bring the strategy, insights, and direction that guide our marketing efforts and drive measurable pipeline growth across your sports.
One day you might be:
- Mapping hockey registration windows against next quarter's campaign calendar with a Sport Director.
- Writing a campaign brief for a swimming club conversion push and kicking it off with the Integrated Marketing team.
- Digging into our CRM to explain to your Group VP why SQLs in one sport outpaced plan, and what that means for next month.
- Comparing notes with your fellow Growth Strategy Director on a message that is working in one sport and could travel to another.
- Partnering with Solution Engineering on a campaign aimed at governing bodies and competition organizers.
What You'll Do
Quarterly Campaign Strategy & Planning
- Build the quarterly campaign plan for your sport cluster: which sports, which motions, which timing, and what goals.
- Partner with Sales during quarterly planning so marketing priorities line up with each sport's revenue targets.
- Write clear, complete campaign briefs that the Integrated Marketing team can run with, from audience and offer to success metrics.
Sales Partnership
- Serve as the primary marketing partner to your Group VP and Sport Directors, attending planning sessions and reviewing results together.
- Build trusted peer relationships with Sales leaders so marketing is part of how each sport plans to hit its number.
- Bring market insight back to Sales, from buyer trends to competitive shifts, to sharpen how we sell in each sport.
Pipeline Ownership & Performance
- Own SQL and marketing-sourced pipeline targets for your sport cluster, and know why you are hitting or missing them.
- Partner with RevOps and Integrated Marketing to keep sport-level performance visible and attributable in the CRM.
- Lead quarterly retrospectives for your cluster: what worked, what didn't, and what changes in the next plan.
Sport Market Expertise
- Develop deep knowledge of your sports: registration windows, competitive seasons, event calendars, key organizations, and buyer timing.
- Partner with Product Marketing to shape sport-specific messaging and positioning.
- Plan and lead sport-specific event and partnership activations that build pipeline and presence in each community.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Learning
- Share learnings in the weekly demand gen sync so what works in one cluster strengthens the other.
- Collaborate with the BDR team on sport-specific targeting and outreach priorities.
