Director, Human Resources
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Human Resources based in India.
This is a senior HR leadership opportunity responsible for shaping and executing the people strategy across India operations.
You will act as a trusted strategic partner to business and executive leaders while also leading a dedicated HR function.
The role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution across talent, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and compliance.
You will help build scalable HR practices that support organizational growth while ensuring alignment with global objectives.
A major focus will be on Indian employment regulations, POSH compliance, workforce planning, and employee experience.
You will also lead HR transformation initiatives, strengthen processes and systems, and develop a high-performing HR team.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR leader who enjoys solving complex people challenges and turning strategy into measurable action.
Accountabilities:
- Act as a strategic HR business partner to India business leaders and executive management, providing guidance on organizational strategy, workforce planning, talent management, and people priorities.
- Align regional HR strategy with broader business objectives and support the cascading of organizational goals across India operations.
- Advise leadership on executive onboarding, development, organizational effectiveness, and change management initiatives.
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with Indian labor laws, employment regulations, the Shops and Establishments Act, and other applicable requirements.
- Own POSH compliance, including policy implementation, employee awareness and training, documentation, and complaint resolution.
- Monitor regulatory developments, update HR policies as needed, and serve as the primary contact for audits and compliance-related inquiries.
- Develop and maintain competitive compensation structures, conduct market benchmarking, and lead annual compensation review cycles.
- Oversee benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement, wellness, and other employee offerings, while managing vendor relationships and total rewards planning.
- Lead regional talent acquisition strategy, workforce planning, recruitment pipelines, employer branding, and consistent hiring practices.
- Partner with hiring managers and global HR stakeholders to improve recruitment effectiveness, hiring metrics, and workforce forecasts.
- Lead and develop HR team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
- Handle complex employee relations matters, workplace disputes, investigations, grievances, corrective actions, performance issues, and employee separations in accordance with local requirements.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, communications, and broader organizational change initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement of HR processes, systems, analytics, and operating practices.
- Lead HR transformation and modernization initiatives while contributing to global HR programs and strategic projects.
- Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in an HR management or director-level leadership position.
- Deep knowledge of Indian labor laws, employment regulations, HR compliance, and local statutory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing POSH compliance and handling employee relations matters in India.
- Strong background in compensation and benefits strategy, salary benchmarking, pay structures, annual review processes, and workforce planning.
- Proven experience leading talent acquisition strategies, recruitment operations, employer branding, and hiring processes.
- Experience managing, developing, and retaining high-performing HR teams.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, HR analytics, workforce reporting, and HR technology.
- Strong understanding of employee engagement, performance management, organizational development, and change management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with employees, managers, and senior executives.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing multiple priorities and sensitive employee matters.
