Director of AI & Data Engineering

Salary: ~$250,000 + Super + Bonuses

Six months in the making. A rare opportunity to lead AI and Data Engineering at the forefront of enterprise AI in Australia.

You'll lead a high-calibre team of AI and Data Engineers responsible for building and scaling the platforms, systems and architecture that underpin the organisation's next phase of growth.

This is a strategic technical leadership role. You'll own the roadmap, guide architectural decisions, develop data engineering capability and ensure the business continues to deliver real-world value through modern AI and data platforms.

What you'll be doing

• Lead AI Engineering and Data Engineering functions across the organisation.
• Own the technical strategy, architecture and engineering roadmap.
• Build and develop a team of highly capable engineers.
• Partner with executive stakeholders to align technology investment with business outcomes.
• Establish engineering standards, governance and best practices across AI and data platforms.
• Drive the adoption of scalable, production-grade AI and data solutions.

You'll have experience across areas such as:

• Enterprise AI, Generative AI or Agentic AI platforms.
• LLM production, orchestration and AI engineering practices.
• Modern data platforms, lakehouse architecture and large-scale data pipelines.
• Cloud-native engineering, APIs and CI/CD.
• Leading high-performing engineering teams and influencing executive stakeholders.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can earn the respect of senior AI & Data engineers while confidently operating at an executive level.
