Director of Characterisation
Summary
Leads hardware validation for AI silicon, designing test strategies, lab infrastructure, and ensuring product reliability across real-world conditions. Works with silicon, hardware, and manufacturing teams to validate next-gen AI systems.
You will build and lead the characterisation capability for next generation silicon and system platforms, helping ensure products perform consistently across real-world conditions. You will define bring-up and characterisation strategies, lead technical execution, and shape the lab infrastructure needed for success. You will solve complex engineering challenges spanning silicon, hardware, manufacturing, architecture and product areas. You will influence both product design and how future AI systems are validated.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead the characterisation capability for next generation silicon and system platforms
- Define bring-up and characterisation strategies
- Lead technical execution of characterisation programmes
- Shape lab infrastructure to support validation
- Solve complex engineering challenges spanning silicon, hardware, manufacturing, architecture and product areas
- Ensure AI silicon performs reliably before it reaches customers
- Influence product design and validation methods for future AI systems
Requirements
- Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects as an individual contributor, manager, or project manager
- Ability to work independently and drive execution
- Strong expertise in silicon digital device design, bring-up, characterisation and silicon process technologies
- Understanding of the impact of process technologies on transistor- and system-level performance
- In-depth knowledge of high-performance processors, SoC architectures, and high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet and DDR
- Experience with measurement automation, data analysis, and scripting or coding for automated test and analysis workflows
- Familiarity with ATE systems and their capabilities
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of PCBA and system level technologies
- Project management experience
