Director of Content (Asset Management Industry Exp. Required)
Summary
Leads content strategy and production for a retirement services firm, creating whitepapers, blogs, and reports to support marketing and demand generation across two brands.
The Role
Great Gray is looking to add a Director of Content to our Marketing team. This role owns the editorial engine and content inventory that turns marketing intelligence into published assets. Reporting to the CMO, the Director of Content is the thought leadership production layer of the organization — taking positioning from Product Marketing and campaign briefs from Demand Gen and RPAG Growth, and producing the written content that fuels the entire demand generation machine across both the Great Gray Trust Company and RPAG brands. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution — you will set the direction and own the delivery. The ideal candidate comes out of the financial services industry, ideally with deep experience in the defined contribution space from an asset manager, consultancy, broker-dealer, or similar firm.
Location
This position will work from our Boston, MA office. Great Gray currently supports a hybrid work model with 4 days onsite, and 1 day remote.
Visa sponsorship or transfer of an existing visa is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work directly for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer.
Responsibilities
- Own editorial strategy and the content calendar across both Great Gray Trust Company (GGTC) and Retirement Plan Advisory Group (RPAG) brands
- Produce long-form content assets including whitepapers, e-books, guides, and research reports (e.g., CIT Clarity Series, Private Markets, Fiduciary Forum)
- Produce short-form content including blog posts and newsletter content on a consistent cadence for both brands
- Govern brand voice and manage compliance review for all published content
- Build and manage the outsource layer: brief, QA, and maintain feedback loops with FinServ specialist freelance writers and AI-assisted draft workflows
- Measure content performance and contribute to content-to-MQE attribution reporting
- Maintain RPAG monthly content cadence: blogs, toolkits, newsletter, and member spotlights
- Maintain GGTC monthly content cadence: thought leadership, distributor briefs, executive blog posts, and newsletter
- Produce cross-brand content series including CIT Clarity Series, Private Markets whitepaper, and Fiduciary Forum
- Produce campaign-specific content — scripts, webinar content, infographics — to support growth and demand gen campaigns
- Complete other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of content or editorial experience, with financial services or retirement/Defined Contribution (DC) plan industry expertise

- Experience briefing, QA-ing, and managing freelance writers and/or content agencies
- Working knowledge of regulatory review requirements for financial services content
- Ability to maintain distinct brand voices for multiple entities (institutional vs. advisor-enablement audiences)
