Director of Engineering

Our client is a fast-growing industrial technology company transforming the metals supply chain for aerospace, defense, and automotive manufacturers. By automating manual quoting, sourcing, and cutting workflows, they're building software that helps modern manufacturing operate faster and more efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Own technical strategy across customer-facing software, internal operations, data, infrastructure, and applied machine learning.
• Build and lead the engineering team from the ground up.
• Design scalable architecture while remaining hands-on with code and critical technical decisions.
• Partner with sales, operations, finance, and factory teams to turn real-world workflows into software.
• Improve system reliability, security, and performance while helping establish a new LA factory.

Qualifications

• Over 4 years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year leading a team of 3–5 engineers.
• Proven experience building and scaling systems from the ground up.
• Strong product-focused, backend-leaning full-stack skills, ideally with TypeScript and Python.
• A CS or STEM degree from a top-25 school.
• Daily experience using AI development tools such as Claude or Cursor.
• Ability to work on-site in LA's South Bay five days a week and travel up to 20%.
