The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and collaborative Director of Family & Community Engagement to lead initiatives that strengthen children, families, and communities across our association.

In this leadership role, you will oversee the YMCA's Family & Community Engagement Team, providing strategic direction, staff leadership, and program oversight while developing systems that enhance family engagement, behavioral health coordination, resource navigation, and connection to community supports.

Working closely with YMCA leaders, schools, behavioral health providers, community organizations, and public agencies, you will help create pathways that empower families, improve access to services, and promote positive outcomes for children and caregivers.

What You'll Do

Program Leadership & Development

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of family engagement, family support, and resource navigation services that strengthen child and family well-being.
  • Develop innovative, family-centered programs that align with the YMCA's mission and respond to evolving community needs.
  • Establish and oversee systems that support comprehensive family assessments, individualized family plans, coordinated service delivery, and ongoing outcome evaluation.
  • Develop practices that improve access to behavioral health services, community resources, and coordinated care for children and families.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement continuous quality improvement strategies.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and professional development for the Family & Community Engagement Team.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and accountable team culture focused on exceptional family-centered services.
  • Provide reflective supervision and consultation related to complex family situations, crisis response, behavioral health coordination, and resource navigation.
  • Monitor caseloads, documentation, service quality, and program outcomes to ensure consistent, high-quality services.
  • Partner with YMCA leadership to support staff working with complex family situations through consultation and collaborative problem-solving.

Community Partnerships & Family Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, behavioral health providers, healthcare organizations, community agencies, and public systems.
  • Strengthen pathways to housing, financial assistance, behavioral health services, and other community resources through coordinated referral networks.
  • Lead community-based family engagement initiatives, educational workshops, and collaborative events that strengthen family well-being.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to YMCA leadership regarding family support, crisis response, and community resource coordination.

Compliance & Quality Improvement

  • Ensure programs operate in compliance with YMCA standards, funding requirements, regulatory guidelines, and evidence-informed practices.
  • Develop systems that promote consistent documentation, service quality, and family engagement practices across the association.
  • Collaborate across YMCA departments to strengthen coordinated, family-centered approaches that improve access, participation, and outcomes.
  • Utilize data and outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

Resource Development & Community Advocacy

  • Identify emerging family and community needs and develop strategies to reduce barriers and improve access to services.
  • Support grant-funded initiatives, community partnerships, and funding opportunities that expand family support services.
  • Promote equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive practices throughout YMCA programs and services.
  • Advocate for children and families by strengthening collaborative relationships throughout the communities we serve.
