Director of Finance - Cost & Inventory
The Director of Finance, Cost and Inventory will lead our cost accounting and inventory management functions. As a critical leader in our manufacturing operations, you will ensure end-to-end inventory accuracy, robust product costing, and strict compliance with financial regulations. Utilizing Infor LN, you will streamline manufacturing accounting, reconcile production variances, and drive cross functional profitability.
Essential Functions
- Cost Accounting & Margin Analysis
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to cost accounting and inventory valuation.
- Oversee standard costing, job-costing, and the development of labor and overhead rates across complex manufacturing programs.
- Perform deep-dive profitability, variance, and margin analysis by product line, contract, and business unit.
- Ensure all accounting and estimating processes are fully compliant with DCAA, FAR, DFARS, and ITAR regulations as applicable to our industry.
Inventory Management & Control
- Govern inventory accounting for raw materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and finished goods.
- Design and enforce cycle count programs, physical inventory procedures, and ongoing reconciliation.
- Manage inventory pegging, material traceability, and Customer Furnished Material (CFM) tracking unique to A&D contracts within Infor LN.
- Monitor excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory, establishing appropriate reserves and mitigation strategies.
Infor LN ERP System Leadership
- Serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Costing, Warehousing, and Manufacturing modules within Infor LN.
- Ensure seamless synchronization between Inventory Control, Shop Floor Management, and the General Ledger.
- Drive continuous system improvements, data governance, and process automation within Infor LN to minimize manual reconciliations.
Leadership & Compliance
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of cost accountants and inventory control specialists.
- Establish, monitor, and report out on key performance indicators (KPIs) regarding inventory accuracy and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Enforce and maintain strict internal controls, ensuring 100% SOX compliance and smooth audit support.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Security Clearance-Ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Excellent cross-functional leadership capabilities
- Excellent leadership skills with proven ability to manage direct reports
- Ability to distill complex findings and concepts into key data-points and visualizations
- Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Supply Chain Management.
- CPA, CMA, or CPIM highly preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive cost and inventory accounting experience
- 5+ years in a management or leadership role.
- Aerospace & Defense manufacturing background strongly preferred (experience with engineer-to order and government contracting is a major plus).
- Deep, hands-on expertise with Infor LN (specifically Procurement, Inventory, Manufacturing, and Financial modules) strongly preferred.
