Position Overview

This role is a hands-on finance leader responsible for the company's financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting, with ownership of the 13-month rolling forecast, the 13-week cash flow forecast, and the monthly reporting that drives accountability across 18+ branches. Reporting to the Vice President of FP&A and partnering closely with Corporate Accounting, operations leadership, and the private equity sponsor, this role turns the close into decision-useful analysis, owns the forecast cycle end to end, and builds the data and reporting infrastructure (NetSuite, Snowflake) that FP&A runs on. This is a high-visibility role for a results-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment and wants direct exposure to sponsor, board, and CFO-level work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Financial Planning and Analysis teams and model the Company values.
  • Develop, coach, train, and promote employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation, including performance goals.
  • Support the VP of FP&A on the monthly Financial Review presentation for the private equity sponsor, including variance analysis and commentary, and on board and investor materials.
  • Serve as a review layer on monthly financial results following Corporate Accounting's close, ensuring forecast-to-actual tie-out and analytical integrity.
  • Own the monthly financial package delivered to operations leadership, covering labor utilization, budget vs. actual, open A/R, equipment utilization, and project profitability.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and decision-support materials in response to leadership, board, and investor requests.
  • Own monthly sales and COGS reporting at the branch and consolidated level, including percentage-of-completion (POC) entries at close, with margin accuracy at each P&L level (Gross Profit, Net Project Margin, and Operating Income), COGS detail by cost category (disposal, services, fuel, materials, rental equipment, billable T&E), and project-level margin tracking on large jobs.
  • Support the build-out of segment reporting by revenue type (waste, environmental services, remediation) across the monthly package and forecast.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the monthly reporting package, documenting the roll-forward so it runs reliably each close.
  • Co-lead the annual operating budget process with the VP of FP&A, including branch and departmental builds, consolidation, and presentation materials for leadership, the sponsor, and the board.
  • Own the full 13-month rolling forecast cycle, leading monthly calls with branch leadership and maintaining the multi-entity master forecast model (18+ branches, acquired entities, and consolidated views), including driver-based revenue/large-jobs layers, covenant vs. internal EBITDA reconciliation, and month-end tie-out of forecast to reported results.
  • Design and maintain the written branch forecast process (end-of-month, mid-month, and beginning-of-month) by customer and project, with variance thresholds that determine which branches require a call.
  • Track forecast accuracy by branch against actuals, large job probabilities, and use the results to improve forecast quality.
  • Own the weekly Business Forecast Process (BFP) file, assembling the weekly flash for VP of FP&A review and presentation to the CEO and CFO.
  • Own bonus and commission payout calculations, partnering with Corporate Accounting on related accruals, and support the VP of FP&A on annual plan design; drive automation of the calculation process.
  • Own the annual burdened cost analysis to inform pricing, project profitability, and labor/equipment rate setting.
  • Support the financial evaluation of strategic initiatives, delivering scenario analyses and decision materials to the VP of FP&A, CFO, and CEO:
    • New location openings and closings
    • Service-line expansion, and pricing actions
    • Equipment capital spending
    • Projects vs. bidding templates
    • New business lines
  • Support finance integration of acquired entities, including forecast integration, reporting alignment, and KPI standardization.
  • Support diligence on future acquisitions and post-close performance tracking.
  • Own the 13-week cash flow forecast, including weekly refresh, variance-to-prior analysis, and liquidity headroom reporting to the CFO.
  • Support the capital expenditure approval process, including business-case standards, return hurdles, and delegation-of-authority thresholds.
  • Support the annual capex budget and quarterly reforecast, tracking approved vs. committed vs. actual spend.
  • Own lease-vs-buy and fleet/equipment financing analysis.
  • Own the equipment utilization dashboard and related analysis, partnering with operations and the sponsor on fleet utilization and capital deployment decisions.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Operations, Sales, Human Resources, and Procurement to drive alignment between financial reporting and operational execution.
  • Support the VP of FP&A in presenting financial results to operations leadership, including quarterly branch financial reviews with regional and branch managers covering P&L results, KPIs, and forecast.
  • Build, mentor, and develop FP&A team members as the function grows, fostering a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as FP&A lead on data and reporting infrastructure, including NetSuite reporting and the Snowflake build-out (financial, labor, and equipment dashboards), partnering with the ERP/BI lead.
  • Drive automation of recurring FP&A workpapers and processes using Claude and available data tools.
  • Advise on accounting policies and procedures including the year-end external audit
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience across accounting and FP&A.
  • Prior experience in a private equity-backed company is a plus, as is exposure to capital strategy, sponsor reporting, or value creation work.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP financials and the interplay between accounting close and FP&A reporting.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite highly valued), advanced Excel modeling.

  • Ability to work independently or part of a team while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Comfort with data tools (NetSuite reporting, Snowflake/SQL) and AI-assisted workflows a plus.
  • Exposure to M&A diligence or integration is a plus.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits coverage after 60 days of full-time employment.
  • 401(k) with discretionary company match.
  • Company paid STD, LTD, and life insurance.
  • Company paid time off and holidays.
  • Career path programs and ongoing company-paid training.
