The Position
Job Title
Director of Financial Planning - DelosJob Description
ROLE MANDATE
Own financial planning across both Delos platforms. Serve as the senior planning practitioner and team leader for Delos Private Client Group's comprehensive, goals-based planning practice, while building the standardized, technology-enabled financial planning program that Delos Wealth Advisors will consistently lead with — a lighter-touch offering by design, but one every Wealth Advisor is expected to deliver and be monitored against. This role sets the planning standard for the entire Delos Wealth franchise; it does not carry sales production credit or AUM/P&L accountability, which sit with the Wealth Sales and Trust Sales leadership roles.
The Opportunity
Delos Private Client Group and Delos Wealth Advisors have the fiduciary infrastructure and institutional backing to become a premier, planning-led wealth management franchise across Texas and Oklahoma. Delos Private Client Group already delivers deep, comprehensive financial planning to high-net-worth households. Delos Wealth Advisors — operating across third-party broker-dealer, RIA, and insurance platforms — needs a consistent, repeatable planning discipline it can lead with in every client conversation, without requiring the same depth of resourcing as the Private Client Group practice.
This role is built for a practitioner-leader who can operate at both altitudes: hands-on, senior-level planning for complex Private Client Group households, and program design, technology governance, and adoption monitoring for a much broader population of Wealth Advisors.
Position Purpose
Own financial planning quality and consistency across Delos Wealth by (1) leading, mentoring, and elevating the Delos Private Client Group planning team and its comprehensive planning practice, and (2) building, deploying, and monitoring adherence to a standardized financial planning program for Delos Wealth Advisors — delivered through eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, or a comparable platform — so that every Wealth Advisor leads with a defined planning experience, regardless of practice size or complexity.
Role Scope
The Role Owns
- Comprehensive financial planning strategy, quality, and team leadership for Delos Private Client Group
- Design, rollout, and ongoing governance of the standardized Delos Wealth Advisors financial planning program
- Selection, configuration, and administration of financial planning technology platforms (eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, or comparable) across both entities
- Monitoring, reporting, and enforcement of Wealth Advisor adherence to the required minimum planning standard
- Review and approval of financial plans prepared by junior Private Client Group planners
The Role Does Not Own
- Sales production credit, AUM growth targets, or P&L accountability for Wealth Strategists and Wealth Advisors (owned by the Head of Wealth Sales)
- Trust origination, fiduciary acceptance, or trust administration (owned by Trust Services and the Head of Trust Sales & Business Development)
- Portfolio construction or investment management decisions
- Recruiting, coaching, or performance management of advisors related to production performance (a Wealth Sales responsibility, though findings may be shared collaboratively)
- Day-to-day supervision of individual Wealth Advisors' practices outside of the planning program
Primary Responsibilities
Delos Private Client Group — Comprehensive Planning Leadership
• Serve as a senior planner on complex, high-net-worth client engagements requiring advanced planning expertise across retirement, tax, estate, cash flow, insurance, and investment strategy
• Lead, mentor, and grow the Private Client Group's team of financial planners and associate advisors
• Establish and maintain firm-wide planning standards, workflows, and best practices for comprehensive plans
• Review and approve financial plans prepared by junior planners to ensure accuracy and alignment with client goals
• Drive a consistent, repeatable planning process that scales with Private Client Group growth while preserving personalization
Delos Wealth Advisors — Financial Planning Program Design & Oversight
• Design a standardized, lighter-touch financial planning program that every Delos Wealth Advisor is expected to lead client relationships with, appropriately scoped to the broker-dealer, RIA, and insurance channels they operate in
• Define the minimum planning deliverable, workflow, and cadence for Wealth Advisors, and the criteria that trigger escalation to a full Private Client Group comprehensive plan
• Build training, templates, and enablement materials so Wealth Advisors can deliver the program consistently at scale
• Monitor and report on Wealth Advisor adherence to the planning program, identifying gaps and working with the Program Manager on remediation
• Refine the program on an ongoing basis based on adoption data, advisor feedback, and client outcomes
Technology & Platform Management
• Own selection, configuration, and administration of the financial planning platform(s) — eMoney Advisor, MoneyGuidePro, or comparable — across Delos Private Client Group and Delos Wealth Advisors
• Establish the system of record and reporting cadence used to monitor Wealth Advisor plan creation, completion, and adherence
• Collaborate with operations and compliance to ensure planning processes and technology use meet regulatory standards across both platforms
• Develop reporting and analytics that track planning quality and capacity at Private Client Group and planning-program adoption at Wealth Advisors
Strategy & Cross-Platform Collaboration
• Partner with the Chief Investment Officer of Delos Private Client Group to define and execute the planning department's strategic roadmap
• Work closely with the Program Manager of Delos Wealth Advisors to align the planning program with the broader Wealth Advisors operating model and advisor experience
• Coordinate with the Director of Wealth Sales and Director of Trust Sales & Business Development so planning findings feed appropriately into sales, referral, and Trust conversations without crossing into their production ownership
• Stay current on financial planning trends, tax law changes, and regulatory developments affecting client strategies across both platforms
• Support new client acquisition by participating in prospect meetings and articulating the value of Delos's planning approach when appropriate
Success Measures

Program Governance
- Adherence rate to the defined minimum planning standard

Technology & Reporting

Qualifications and Experience
Required
- CFP® designation (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™) required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in comprehensive financial planning
- Deep expertise in retirement income planning, tax planning strategies, estate planning concepts, and investment planning
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop planning teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Hands-on experience with eMoney Advisor, MoneyGuidePro, or comparable financial planning software, including platform administration
- Series 65 (or 66) license, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for diverse audiences and skill levels
Preferred
- Advanced credentials such as CPA, CFA, CEPA, CPWA, ChFC, or Legal Degree
- Experience designing or standardizing a financial planning program across a multi-channel advisor population (RIA, broker-dealer, and/or insurance)
- Experience working within an RIA, independent broker-dealer, or fee-only advisory environment
- Familiarity with the Oklahoma and/or Texas wealth management market
- Experience monitoring advisor adherence, compliance, or quality standards at scale
- Background in business owner planning, executive compensation, or trust and estate strategies
- Prior experience reporting to or partnering with a CIO and a separate advisor-platform Program Manager
The Right Fit — And the Wrong One
You will thrive here if...
- You enjoy operating at two altitudes — deep, technical planning work and broad program design
- You want to set the planning standard for an entire advisor population, not just your own clients
- You're comfortable owning adherence and quality monitoring without owning sales production or AUM targets
- You think in systems, templates, and technology as much as in individual client plans
- You're energized by partnering across a CIO and a separate Program Manager to align two distinct platforms
This role is not the right fit if...
- You only want to do one-on-one planning work and have no interest in building a scalable program
- You expect every advisor to deliver the same depth of plan as the Private Client Group practice
- You want AUM, P&L, or sales-production accountability — that sits with Wealth Sales
- You prefer to avoid technology administration and platform governance work
- You prefer a single reporting line and a narrowly defined book of clients
How the Role Fits Within Delos Wealth
This role reports to the Chief Investment Officer of Delos Private Client Group and works in close, ongoing partnership with the Program Manager of Delos Wealth Advisors. The division of labor is intentional: comprehensive, high-touch planning remains centered in Delos Private Client Group, where this role personally practices and leads; Delos Wealth Advisors receives a lighter-touch but mandatory planning program that this role designs, deploys, and monitors for adherence across the platform's Wealth Advisors. This role does not carry sales production, AUM, or P&L accountability — those responsibilities sit with the Director of Wealth Sales — and does not own Trust origination or administration, which sit with Trust Services and the Director of Trust Sales & Business Development. Planning findings and client needs identified through either channel are shared collaboratively with those leaders.
