Job Summary
The Director of Fleet & Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the repair, preventative maintenance and overall operational readiness for The Zemba Company’s vehicle and equipment fleet. Manage maintenance budgets, supervise shop managers, ensure compliance with DOT & OSHA regulations and implement strategies to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize asset lifespan. This position will optimize lifecycle costs, drive sustainability initiatives and ensure absolute safety across all operations.
Essential Functions
- Strategic Leadership: Develops long-term asset lifecycle strategies, budgeting needs, and capital planning.
- Fleet Performance: Develop and direct comprehensive preventative maintenance pro-grams to keep the fleet reliable, compliant, and operating at peak efficiency.
- Technology & Data Analytics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as repair turnaround time, fuel efficiency, and cost per-mile via fleet management software to make data-driven decisions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all vehicles, equipment and shop facilities strictly adhere to local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations (including Department of Transportation rules).
- Cost Management: Negotiate parts and vendor contracts, fuel, telematics and maintenance providers, manages procurement, and handles relationships with parts and service provid-ers to control operational costs.
- Maintenance & Repair: Deep knowledge of preventive maintenance schedules, basic mechanical tools and safety standards.
- Inventory & Asset Tracking: High proficiency in using inventory management software and asset-tracking systems to optimize maintenance schedules.
- Staff Leadership: Supervise, oversee training of all levels in the shop and foster a culture of safety and performance.

- Ensure fleet license plates, renewals and additions, as well as titles are purchased, issued and accounted for.
- Ensure MCS-150 filings and UCR filings are completed.
- Maintain company asset list (fleet & heavy equipment).
- Responsible for fuel tracking and reporting.
