Director of Food and Beverage
Description
At The Wave Resort, food and beverage is how guests remember us. Weddings on the coast, corporate retreats, milestone celebrations: banquets and events drive our F&B business. Our restaurant, bar, and lounge round out the guest experience.
We’re looking for a leader who builds strong teams, works closely with Sales and Event Services /Operations, and makes every event feel effortless for our clients and guests.
What you’ll do
Lead an event-driven operation. Own banquets, catering, weddings, and group events from BEO to breakdown, along with our restaurant, bar, lounge, and culinary outlets.
Partner across the property. Work with Sales and Catering/Event Services on forecasts, menus, pricing, pre-event meetings, and post-event reviews. When a client is happy, the whole team gets the credit.
Develop your leaders. Coach and mentor the Assistant Director of F&B and our banquet and outlet managers. Help them grow, delegate with trust, and build a bench that doesn’t depend on any one person.
Run the business side. Build the F&B budget, forecast revenue and labor against event volume, choose strong vendor partners, and find ways to improve profitability.
Set the standard. Champion guest service, food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service, and make those standards part of how the team works every day.
Build the team with HR. Partner on recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance conversations to create a place people want to stay.
What you bring
4+ years of progressive F&B management experience, including 2+ years leading banquet, catering, or large-scale event operations in a hotel, resort, or event venue. A bachelor’s degree can substitute.
Hands-on experience with high-volume weddings, meetings, and social events, including BEO review, banquet labor scheduling, and banquet beverage service.
A track record of developing managers, not just supervising them.
Comfort turning financial data into an operational plan.
Strong communication skills with guests, clients, and team members at every level.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards, and the ability to train others in them.
You’ll thrive here if you…
Believe the best events come from strong partnerships between the kitchen, the floor, and Sales.
Lead by being present on the floor, not only from the office.
Get energy from developing people and watching them grow into bigger roles.
Stay calm and organized when three events are running at the same time.
