Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs all daily operations within the Department Management scope, including hiring, training, mentoring, and guiding staff.
- Manages Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems to ensure seamless access, reliability, and data integrity across all care teams.
- Oversees Medical Coding and Billing processes to accelerate cash flow and minimize claim denials.
- Enforces strict HIPAA Compliance and Healthcare Compliance standards to protect sensitive patient records.
- Maintains robust Data Privacy and Security protocols to defend against internal and external threats.
- Facilitates secure Health Information Exchange (HIE) with external partners to support coordinated patient care.
- Implements rigorous Quality Assurance programs to audit patient records and correct errors quickly.
- Makes key strategic decisions regarding software upgrades, workflow redesigns, and regulatory responses.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Possesses a valid Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
Experience
- Brings at least seven years of experience in health information management within a hospital or healthcare system.
- Demonstrates at least three years of proven success in a leadership or management role.
Knowledge/Skills
- Understands advanced Health Information Management (HIM) principles and industry trends.
- Masters Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems and database administration.
- Applies expert knowledge of HIPAA Compliance and Healthcare Compliance regulations.
- Analyzes Medical Coding and Billing workflows to improve financial performance.
- Communicates effectively with medical staff, executives, and IT professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration or Business Administration.
- Experience with large-scale Health Information Exchange (HIE) implementations.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Works primarily in a standard office environment with frequent computer use.
- Travels occasionally between company locations for meetings and audits.
- Lifts office supplies and document boxes weighing up to 20 pounds on rare occasions.
