Director of Lands and Resources
Classification: Band 8 — Senior Manager / Director
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Supervises: Manager, Community Planning; Manager, Lands & Resources; Manager, Regulatory Affairs; Stewardship Program Manager; Administrative and Operations Coordinator

Salary Band: Band 8 ($98,076 – $147,115)
POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Lands and Resources is responsible for providing the overall leadership, direction and support for the planning, funding, negotiations, development, delivery, financial management and administration of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government Lands and Resources programs.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Program Management
- Leads the development, funding, implementation, and evaluation of Lands and Resources programs, ensuring alignment with Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government's Vision, Mission, and Values
- Recommends and administers program and policy frameworks
- Establishes program goals, objectives, and performance indicators
- Ensures programs are responsive to the needs of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ citizens
- Promotes community engagement in the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of services
Department Management
- Works in partnership with the Manager of Human Resources on all staffing matters, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and succession planning
- Leads departmental work planning and monitors progress against objectives
- Oversees performance management processes, including coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action
Financial Management
- In collaboration with the CFO, manages departmental finances and prepares the annual budget
- Oversees the preparation of funding proposals and financial reports
- Administers funding agreements and monitors financial performance
Administration & Reporting
- Oversees all program reporting to ensure timely submission of required documents
- Ensures accurate and up-to-date records and administrative systems
- Administers departmental policies, procedures, and operating protocols
Senior Management Team
- Participates in Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government strategic planning
- Promotes interdepartmental cooperation and staff engagement
- Provides updates and briefings to the CAO and, as directed, to the Executive, Legislature, and the hitacu Assembly
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's Degree preferred)
- 8–10 years of directly related experience with 2–3 years at a management level
- Experience developing and managing natural resource and environmental programs
- Experience developing program policies
- Experience researching, developing and managing funding proposals
Preferred:
- Experience working with First Nations
- Experience in planning, developing and implementing culturally appropriate land and resource management programs

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with regular fieldwork
