Director of Programs
Purpose:
As a member of the agency Executive Team, this position fulfills TCAA’s mission through their leadership, supervision, and direction of human service programs that address hunger relief, senior independence, family strengthening, and economic mobility for households from backgrounds of disadvantage. The position is responsible for supporting staff in implementing programs and initiatives that move individuals and families from crisis to independence. The position will build a strong case management framework to deepen the agency’s impact on poverty in targeted communities. The candidate will also conduct staff training and coaching, develop benchmarks for success, and manage program budgets, data collection, and reporting.
In addition to a solid track record in nonprofit administration, human resources, and project management, this position requires leadership, flexibility, resourcefulness, and a passion for advancing opportunity for diverse populations. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Works under the general direction of the CEO and in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team. Exercises supervision over program managers.
Status: Full Time/Exempt
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, subject to periodic variation
Compensation: $80k – 100k
Essential Functions:
Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategies that will maximize synergies among program areas
- Develop and implement innovative strategies that address the causes and effects of poverty
- Regularly study and apply knowledge of evolving human service needs in our target areas
- Support the development and implementation of new programs to expand TCAA’s mission
- Coordinate services across multiple community partnerships
- Act as a spokesperson for TCAA programs, increasing our visibility and reputation in the community
- Coordinate and oversees volunteer involvement across all programs
- Liaise with the Director of Operations in the areas of program evaluation, continuous improvement, financial management, and operational support services
Team Management and Development:
- Hire, train, and serve as a motivating mentor to program staff. Provide direct supervision of managers responsible for programs addressing hunger, housing insecurity, aging, economic disadvantage, early childhood, and family resilience.
- Foster an environment of accountability and recognition, healthy work relationships, and inclusivity among staff
- Evaluate the professional development needs of program staff and implement training to address employee experience and skill gaps
- Instill a sense of accountability and work with staff and teams to fulfill performance metrics and ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all employees
- Demonstrate strong relationship management skills and the ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations
Program Management:
- Establish and attain program standards of accountability based on TCAA and funding source expectations. Develop benchmarks and provide monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports
- Establish and facilitate program and project status meetings
- Create and nurture effective communication across programs and departments
- Develop and implement a standardized, intentional case management practice
- Remain current on all relevant laws and ethical practices pertaining to case management
- Monitor delivery of services and supports; ensure services are consistent, engaging, and relevant to the individuals served
- Develop and maintain current operating procedures manuals for each program
- Manage program expenses within established budgets
- Other duties as assigned
