Director of Referral Relations
Overview
Conducts patient assessments to identify appropriate patients for potential admission into the system. Daily follow up with patients and their decision-makers in their account(s) for consistent clinical reassessment. Responsible for managing the referrals and admissions that are generated through their assigned hospitals and territories. Represents ARH Advanced Care, Inc. and their assigned hospital with professionalism and maintains positive relationships with the accounts within their territory. Designs and manages the marketing strategies for their assigned accounts. Identifies and contacts new and potential referral sources to grow their respective territory. Conducts in-person educational meetings and conversations with referral sources, utilizing educational materials to present our specialty hospitals to referral sources. Acts as liaison by coordinating transmission of clinical and benefit information between patients, decision-makers, referral sources and the ARH Advanced Care, Inc. Hospitals they serve. Performs 80% or more of work outside the home, with expectation of being on-site at their respective accounts daily.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes prospecting methods to generate leads, including initiating personal and business contacts, identifying expansion opportunities through existing and new accounts, and conducting educational presentations.
- Meets monthly goals for assigned hospitals and territories.
- Expands the number of referral sources within assigned territories.
- Maintains and strengthens referral sources through ongoing relationship development.
- Manages the admissions process and serves as an ambassador for eligible patients.
- Operates within budgeted parameters by effectively planning travel and monitoring expenses.
- Conducts assessments in accordance with company standards.
- Manages the referral and admission process for assigned patients.
- Educates patients and family members regarding the services and benefits offered by ARH Advanced Care, Inc. Hospitals.
- Conducts all job responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, organizational policies and procedures, Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and professional standards.
- Completes clinical assessments of prospective patients in accordance with division standards.
- Meets with patients and families to explain hospital services and care options.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with referral sources throughout the assigned territory.
- Effectively manages the referral, assessment, and admission process.
- Adheres to organizational dress code standards and wears appropriate identification while on duty.
- Completes annual health, safety, and educational requirements and participates in ongoing professional development.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient and employee information in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and applies appropriate skills to the patient population served.
- Reports to work as scheduled and follows established absence notification procedures.
- Attends all required in-service education programs and staff meetings.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, values, ethics, goals, and departmental focus of the organization.
- Maintains current licensure and certifications required for the position.
- Demonstrates exceptional guest relations skills when interacting with patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and others.
- Adheres to departmental and hospital policies related to health, safety, security, and hazardous materials.
- Performs all other duties relevant and appropriate to the position as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Associate degree required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Extensive healthcare sales experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications
- Clinical licensure preferred, including:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)
- Respiratory Therapist (RT)
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare sales experience and/or two (2) years of clinical healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- Formal sales training preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors as related to LTACH benefits preferred.
- Demonstrated competency in strategic business planning and the development of marketing initiatives preferred.
