Position Summary

The Director of Sales – North Carolina is responsible for driving profitable growth across the North Carolina territory by growing bookings and margin, deepening penetration within existing accounts, and generating new business. This role owns estimating efficiency and win-rate performance for the territory, provides hands-on coaching and leadership to the sales team, and is directly accountable for the success of the Large Projects Team serving North Carolina. The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader with strong industry experience and a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and execute a territory sales strategy that grows bookings and margin across North Carolina.
  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with general contractors, developers, architects, and end users.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline; forecast and report bookings against revenue and margin targets.
Account Penetration
  • Deepen relationships within existing key accounts to expand share of wallet and drive repeat business.
  • Partner with account teams to identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the full product and service portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain account plans for top customers and track progress against penetration goals.
Estimating Efficiency & Success
  • Own estimating throughput, accuracy, and win rates for the territory.
  • Partner with the estimating team to streamline processes, improve turnaround time, and increase bid-to-win conversion.
  • Ensure estimates are competitively priced while protecting and growing margin.
Sales Team Coaching & Leadership
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and coach the North Carolina sales team to meet and exceed individual and team goals.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, joint sales calls, and performance evaluations.
  • Build a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative sales culture.
Large Projects Team Leadership
  • Hold full accountability for the performance and success of the Large Projects Team within the territory.
  • Provide strategic oversight of large and complex project pursuits from bid through award and execution handoff.
  • Ensure large project opportunities are properly resourced, priced, and executed to protect margin and customer satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operations, project management, and executive leadership to align sales strategy with delivery capacity.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on bookings, margin, pipeline health, and team performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in the door, frame, hardware, or related construction products/building materials industry including Division 8, 10 and 28.
  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) required.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading, coaching, and developing a sales team.
  • Demonstrated success growing bookings and margin within a defined territory.
  • Strong understanding of estimating processes, with the ability to drive estimating efficiency and accuracy.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting large, complex project pursuits preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales forecasting tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout North Carolina as needed.
