Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales, the Director of Sales will be responsible for expanding commercial, industrial, and chemical distribution sales throughout the Midwest territory. This role serves as the primary point of contact throughout the customer lifecycle, managing key chemical distribution, commercial, and industrial accounts while driving new business development and long-term customer partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth and market expansion throughout the Midwest region
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key commercial and industrial customers
  • Own the customer experience from prospecting through contract implementation and ongoing account management
  • Achieve annual sales volume, revenue, and margin objectives
  • Lead strategic customer engagement and relationship management efforts
  • Utilize CRM tools and data to support pipeline management, forecasting, and sales effectiveness
  • Manage customer portfolios and conduct performance reviews against budget and forecast expectations
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies focused on margin optimization and profitability
  • Collaborate with operations, marketing, and executive leadership to support business objectives
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events
  • Monitor customer profitability and sales productivity metrics
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and ethical business practices
  • Support acquisition integration initiatives and strategic growth projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical distribution, petroleum, lubricants, oil & gas, or related industrial markets
  • Minimum 5 years of senior-level sales leadership experience with demonstrated success in business development and account management
  • Strong commercial, financial, and strategic business acumen
  • Proven ability to grow revenue, improve margins, and expand market share
  • Experience managing customer portfolios, forecasting, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience preferred
  • Experience with Power BI and business analytics tools preferred
  • Acquisition integration experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, market-facing environment
