About us

As the world’s largest family of luxury hotels, InterContinental brings the world closer through genuine hospitality, international expertise and a deep appreciation of local culture. We create thoughtful, inspiring experiences for guests seeking a richer perspective on the places they visit.

Set in the heart of Auckland’s waterfront, InterContinental Auckland reflects the energy and character of a city shaped by its harbour, culture and people. From refined stays and exceptional dining at Advieh Restaurant & Bar to memorable meetings and celebrations, we offer guests a distinctive way to experience the city.

We are looking for an accomplished, commercially astute Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our commercial function. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll shape the hotel’s market position, drive sustainable growth and lead a high-performing team across Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management and Distribution.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting mark on a distinctive luxury hotel as it continues to grow its presence in Auckland. You’ll bring together commercial insight, creativity and meaningful relationships to connect the hotel with guests, clients and partners locally and around the world.

With a focus on commercial excellence, innovation and relationship-led selling, you’ll champion InterContinental Auckland as a leading destination for luxury stays, exceptional dining and Incredible Occasions.

  • People leadership: A track record of building high-performing teams through clear expectations, trust, collaboration and accountability.
  • Market knowledge: An understanding of Auckland’s hotel market, New Zealand’s hospitality and tourism landscape, and the local and international partners who influence demand.
  • Relationship and influencing skills: Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to present and build trust with clients, partners, senior leaders and ownership.
  • Strategic thinking and delivery: Strong analytical judgement and a results-focused approach, with the ability to set priorities, manage opportunities and risks, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Systems capability: Confidence using hotel sales and revenue systems, CRM platforms, digital marketing tools, business intelligence and Microsoft Office.
