Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting
The Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting is a Senior Technical Accounting Professional responsible for SEC external reporting, complex accounting research, policy development, and supporting the quarterly and annual close and filings. Acts as subject matter expert on US GAAP, emerging standards, and the SEC reporting process; partners with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and external auditors to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant disclosures. Supports earnings releases, investor materials, and XBRL tagging as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Lead preparation and review of SEC filings and disclosure deliverables, including Form 10-K, 10- Q, 8-K, and registration statements; coordinate disclosure checklists and XBRL tagging.
- Perform and document technical accounting research on complex or novel transactions (e.g., business combinations, leases, share-based compensation, equity transactions).
- Draft technical accounting memoranda that summarize facts, applicable guidance, management conclusions, sensitivity analyses, and disclosure requirements.
- Develop, update, and communicate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, drive SOX remediation and control testing where applicable.
- Partner with FP&A and accounting teams to prepare reconciliations, roll forwards, EPS calculations, and supporting schedules for external reporting.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and assist audit committee preparation and responses to audit requests.
- Monitor and interpret new FASB, SEC, and industry guidance; lead implementation projects for new accounting standards and deliver training to stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day technical accounting support to business partners on transactions, contracts, and system implementations.
- Advise on M&A, divestitures, equity transactions, joint ventures, and system implementations from a technical accounting perspective.
- Provide technical accounting training and mentorship to accounting teams; review workpapers and complex journal entries.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Ability to obtain/maintain Security Clearance- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including experience producing 10-Qs/10-Ks and related disclosure packages.
- Proven experience writing technical accounting memos and making defensible judgments on complex issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-accountants and interacting with auditors and the audit committee.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems; familiarity with XBRL tagging and EDGAR filing process preferred.

Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive public company accounting experience or Big Four public accounting experience with significant technical accounting and SEC reporting exposure.
- Experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, business combinations (ASC 805), ASC 718, and income taxes.
- Hands-on experience with disclosure management and XBRL tools.
