Director of Social Service
Summary
Leads a team of social service staff at a Staten Island shelter, ensuring residents receive healthcare, housing support, and entitlements while managing staff and coordinating with external agencies.
Oversees and supervises the social services staff of the shelter. Responsible for ensuring that residents of the shelter receive social services to which they are entitled.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To oversee and train the Case Managers, Recreation Coordinators, and Housing Specialists as indicated.
- Responsible for the delivery of social services and entitlements to residents of the shelter to include health care of residents, including mental health.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with the Case Manager, Housing Specialist and Residential Aide staff on all details pertaining to social service delivery and entitlements.
- Provide supervision to the Social Services staff as per agency policy; also recommendation for hiring, firing, and performance evaluations of Social Service staff.
- Acts as liaison with agencies providing social services to the residents of the shelter. Also represents the agency at interagency council meetings as directed.
- Implement on-site programming in conjunction with the Shelter / Program Director, including parenting, housing readiness, and other in-house programs as well as design curriculum for group work.
- Responsible for reporting to various regulatory agencies on an ongoing basis.
- 24/7 on-call support to program staff as needed
