Director of Software Development (Engineering Enablement)

Director of Software Development (Engineering Enablement) to manage Site Reliability, Developer Experience, Developer Tooling, and DevOps for a large programming team, developing Java-based systems on AWS within an Agile environment.

Toronto, Ontario (hybrid)

Permanent, full time

Responsibilities:

• Enhance the organization's engineering capabilities in DevOps, Developer Experience, Developer Tooling, and Site Reliability.
• Lead a team of managers and managers of managers, including interviewing, coaching, performance appraisals, talent development, etc.
• Team up with stakeholders to define strategic imperatives and execute roadmaps that create original digital customer products and services.
• Work within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support Java-based solutions built on AWS
• Partner with leaders across the company to architect, design and develop enterprise platforms, including large-scale data and ML applications

Must have:

• 7+ years experience in people management with direct reports
• Experience working in an Engineering Enablement specific role, focused on Site Reliability, Developer Experience, Developer Tooling, and DevOps
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering using Java (preferably 13+ years)
  
• Extensive AWS experience
• Extensive experience leading multiple teams within an Agile environment
  
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering preferred a Masters Degree
