Director of Total Rewards & People Operations
About The Position
Neumo is looking for a Director of Total Rewards & People Operations to own the strategy and execution of our people infrastructure.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll drive outcomes that advance company priorities by building compensation expertise in-house, designing scalable people programs, and ensuring operational excellence across our systems and processes.
This is a high-impact role for someone who can make independent, complex decisions with a company-wide perspective by evaluating tradeoffs in compensation strategy, benefits design, and program implementation while anticipating long-term implications for our unique business model.
We’re looking for someone who believes people operations can be deeply human while using AI to drive efficiency and scale. You’ll be instrumental in building an AI-enabled people operations function that reflects Neumo’s broader mission and culture.
Responsibilities
This role will cover four key areas critical to the success of the People function and business:
Total Rewards Strategy & Execution
- Own compensation strategy and execution for Neumo’s entire business as the company’s hands-on total rewards expert, including framework design, market positioning, and equity programs
- Lead benefits strategy, vendor selection, and plan design, ensuring our total rewards package is competitive and supports our culture and business needs
- Manage cyclical compensation reviews end-to-end
- Partner on complex offer negotiations with market data and competitive positioning recommendations
People Operations Excellence
- Own the HR technology stack, including HRIS selection, configuration, integrations, and data integrity
- Drive AI-enabled processes across the people function while preserving the human elements of our work
- Own compliance across benefit plans (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity), wage and hour, Form I-9, and multi-state pay transparency and pay data reporting
- Oversee leave of absence administration, including FMLA, state paid leave programs, and accommodations, in partnership with Legal
- Build and own people reporting and analytics on headcount, compensation, retention, and program effectiveness for leadership
- Lead cross-functional processes with Legal, Finance, and Technology, and serve as the escalation point for complex operational, benefits, and compensation issues
- Manage external vendor relationships and consultant partnerships
Program Operations & Enablement
- Manage the systems, data, and operational design behind performance, promotion, and compensation cycles, partnering with HRBPs and OD who own program content
- Translate people program designs into scalable workflows, tools, and reporting, so programs launch cleanly and run consistently as we grow
- Anticipate how growth in headcount, locations, and entities will affect systems, policies, and total rewards programs, and build ahead of that need
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two people operations professionals, building their capabilities and career growth
About You
- Deep expertise in Total Rewards: compensation expertise - you’ve designed frameworks, led market analysis, structured equity programs, and can think strategically about total rewards in complex business models
- Proven track record implementing AI and automation - and a strong vision for where an AI-enabled function can go
- Strong operational background - you’ve owned the HRIS, benefits, leave administration, compliance, and people analytics, and built scalable operations infrastructure
- Experience operationalizing and scaling people programs - you know how to turn program design into systems and processes that run with quality and efficiency
- People management experience - you’ve developed and elevated individuals and teams, and care deeply about career development
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills - you build excellent relationships with internal teams and external vendors
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments - you can be both strategic and hands-on
