Director of User Experience

Director of User Experience location Renton, WA

Rational Interaction is looking for a Director of User Experience for one of our clients located in Renton, WA. This position leads user experience design as part of the digital services team, which supports the company’s mission and vision through leadership and management of the system’s online presence, including public websites, the intranet, portals, as well as social media platforms, mobile applications and other extensions of the digital experience.

In this position you will:

• Create and communicate UX strategy that describes specific long-term goals for the user experience, including conceptual models, interaction techniques, and visual design directions to optimize and innovate overall digital experiences.
• Direct the digital team through each step of the UX process, including project planning, discovery, user research and analysis, requirements definition, conceptual design, content planning, and execution. Guide the design of compelling, usable and simple user interactions for websites and digital products.
• Create and present the visualization of innovative product concepts by building high-level interaction prototypes through sketching, whiteboarding, and storyboarding. Create documentation (including design rules, flows and animations) that enables developers to successfully build the user experience.
• Lead rapid usability testing (landing pages, full site, A/B, multivariate) and research to improve digital product designs early in the design cycle and validate and refine throughout the development cycle. Develop and rapidly iterate on designs to satisfy the technical and emotional needs of user personas as they interact with products.
• Manage the user experience design and strategy process, drive decisions, track issues, contribute to the definition scope and phasing of project timelines, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules.

Required* qualification for this position include:*

• Bachelor’s degree in UI design, product design, interaction design or related field, or equivalent combination of workplace experience, education and/or training.
• 7 years user design experience with progressive responsibility that includes both web and mobile implementations.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with a variety of audiences including leadership, care team and technical support.

Preferred qualification for this position include:

• Master’s degree.
• Demonstrated experience in developing UX and visual designs to produce a seamless, effortless experience across multiple digital channels.
