Director Portfolio Management - Utilities

As a Director Portfolio Management – Utilities here at Honeywell Technologies, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the portfolio strategy for Honeywell’s Utilities business. You will be responsible for driving profitable growth by aligning Honeywell Technologies’ offerings with utility market needs across electric, gas, and water segments, while enabling customer outcomes through advanced metering, grid modernization, software, services, cybersecurity, and behind-the-meter solutions.

In this role, you will develop and execute portfolio strategies that optimize growth, profitability, market share, and customer value. You will work cross-functionally with offering management, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, finance, and regional commercial teams to identify market opportunities, prioritize investments, develop roadmaps, support strategic pursuits, and ensure disciplined execution across the Utilities portfolio.

You will also partner closely with senior leaders to support the “One Honeywell” approach by aligning enterprise-level messaging, value propositions, and cross-business solutions for priority utility customers and large, complex utility opportunities.

You will report directly to the Honeywell Technologies General Manager – Utilities and work out of our Houston, TX location on a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Utilities portfolio strategy, including portfolio expansion, new product introductions, lifecycle management, and investment prioritization to drive growth, profitability, and market leadership.
  • Lead market intelligence efforts, including voice of customer, competitive analysis, technology trends, and regulatory developments, to identify growth opportunities, portfolio gaps, and strategic priorities across electric, gas, and water utilities.
  • Define and drive product roadmaps, pricing strategies, go-to-market plans, and value propositions in partnership with engineering, marketing, sales, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including revenue, margin, market share, customer adoption, and recurring revenue growth, and implement actions to optimize business results and customer outcomes.
  • Partner with sales and business leaders to support strategic customer engagements, major pursuits, and cross-Honeywell Technologies opportunities, ensuring portfolio alignment with customer and market needs.
  • Serve as the portfolio leader and trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic recommendations on investments, competitive positioning, growth initiatives, and long-term portfolio direction.

You Must Have

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in portfolio management, offering management, product management, strategy, business management, sales, or program management.
  • Experience in the utilities industry or a related industrial, infrastructure, energy, software, automation, or technology-driven sector.
  • Proven track record of driving portfolio growth, market expansion, customer acquisition, and financial performance.
  • Strong business acumen with experience analyzing revenue, margin, profitability, market share, pipeline, and investment trade-offs.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, translate them into executable plans, and drive results across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, including experience engaging with senior leaders and customers.
  • Strong knowledge of utility market trends, customers, regulatory dynamics, and technology needs across electric, gas, and water utilities.
  • Experience building or scaling a business, launching new offerings, or expanding into new market segments.
  • Strong sales, portfolio management, product marketing, and go-to-market acumen, particularly in new or evolving market spaces.
  • Experience deploying and operating financial, sales, or portfolio management operating systems.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, manage change, simplify complexity, and make fact-based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated record of exceeding growth and performance objectives.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a global organization with matrixed teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
