The Director, Product Marketing will lead portfolio-wide marketing strategy across a diverse range of diagnostic and testing solutions. This senior leadership role will shape positioning, commercialization, market adoption, and lifecycle strategies across multiple product lines. You will work closely with Product Management to influence portfolio strategy and roadmap decisions while partnering with commercial teams to ensure successful launches. The role combines strategic leadership, market intelligence, customer insight, and data-driven decision-making. You will prioritize investments across a broad portfolio, identifying the opportunities most likely to drive growth and competitive differentiation. You will also lead and develop a team of portfolio marketing professionals while connecting their work into one cohesive product marketing function.
Accountabilities
- Lead the overall product marketing strategy and positioning across the full portfolio, covering existing and future diagnostic and testing solutions throughout their complete product lifecycles.
- Define portfolio strategies focused on protecting market share, accelerating growth, and expanding market demand, with clear priorities for where resources and budgets should be invested.
- Establish and monitor portfolio KPIs, using performance data and market insights to refine strategies, allocate resources, and improve business outcomes.
- Partner closely with Product Management to influence portfolio strategy and roadmap development, ensuring market needs and customer insights inform future products and priorities.
- Collaborate with Commercial Launch Excellence to coordinate cross-functional launch planning, readiness, and execution, ensuring marketing deliverables are aligned and delivered on schedule.
- Gather and apply voice-of-customer insights through direct engagement and team-led research to strengthen portfolio strategies and inform product roadmaps.
- Lead, mentor, and develop portfolio marketing managers across multiple product lines, establishing priorities and creating a unified product marketing organization.
- Own product-level competitive intelligence and ensure relevant insights are continuously incorporated into portfolio planning and marketing activities.
- Partner with marketing leadership across brand, content, digital, social, and operations to align resources and execution with portfolio priorities.
- Translate product positioning and messaging into clear inputs for Commercial Marketing, enabling effective audience-specific activation across channels.
- Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive product marketing experience within healthcare, life sciences, diagnostics, or a closely related industry.
- Direct experience working with oncology-related portfolios, combined with at least 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing departmental budgets, including annual operating plan development and in-year spending decisions.
- Strong strategic planning and prioritization skills across broad, multi-product portfolios, with the ability to make clear decisions about where to focus—and where not to invest.
- Proven ability to influence product strategy and roadmap decisions through strong cross-functional partnerships and shared accountability.
- Experience operating within structured, cross-functional product launch processes and coordinating marketing deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to define KPIs, interpret performance data, and adjust strategy and resource allocation accordingly.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing teams across distinct product lines while creating alignment around shared objectives.
- Experience gathering, interpreting, and applying voice-of-customer insights to inform product and portfolio strategy.
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Experience in diagnostics, healthcare services, or another regulated industry is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% overnight.
