Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, Project & Construction Management, the Director will serve as a senior delivery leader and trusted extension of the Executive Director, strengthening delivery capacity and management bandwidth as the project portfolio grows.
The role provides delivery guidance, mentorship and practical oversight across A&A project and construction delivery teams, while remaining hands-on in execution, stakeholder management and construction delivery, including ownership of selected key projects where assigned.
The Director will strengthen delivery capability, project controls, escalation protocols, risk management, and delivery consistency across assigned projects, while supporting the Executive Director in managing an expanding portfolio and developing the team.
The role remains aligned to the Executive Director’s direction and portfolio priorities as business and project needs evolve.
Job Responsibilities
Delivery Guidance & Team Support:
- Provide senior delivery guidance and practical support to project managers, construction managers, assistant project managers, coordinators and other delivery team members to help maintain consistent project delivery standards.
- Support the Executive Director by translating portfolio priorities into clear project direction, assisting with delivery coordination, resolving escalated issues and reinforcing disciplined project management practices across assigned projects.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to project and construction management staff through regular feedback, knowledge sharing and support in managing complex project situations, stakeholder matters and delivery risks.
Portfolio Governance & Delivery Consistency:
- Strengthen project delivery governance by establishing/ maintaining clear project programmes, milestones, reporting cadence, escalation protocols, risk controls and decision-making processes across assigned projects.
- Support early-stage project planning and pre-construction reviews, including design, tender, procurement, contract, logistics, phasing, site execution and closeout strategies, to ensure delivery risks, sequencing and operational constraints are considered before execution.
- Review project schedule, budget, procurement, change management, risk exposure, quality, safety, stakeholder coordination and construction progress to support consistent reporting and early identification of issues requiring attention.
- Promote consistency in project management practices, documentation, communications, reporting, approval processes, quality assurance and contractor performance management across assigned projects and key stakeholders.
Assigned Project Ownership:
- Take ownership of and manage selected key A&A projects where assigned, whether during the initial period of the role or on an ongoing basis as business or portfolio needs require, to demonstrate delivery capability, establish working credibility and build confidence with project teams and stakeholders.
- For directly assigned projects, remain closely involved from inception through handover and closeout, including project execution, construction delivery, programme review, site coordination, contractor management, issue resolution and approvals, with appropriate support from assistant project managers or other team members.
- Guide project teams through key delivery decisions, stakeholder coordination, commercial implications, operational constraints and construction challenges to support completion within approved budget, schedule, quality, safety and design requirements.
Team Capability & Portfolio Growth Support:
- Support the Executive Director in managing the growing project portfolio by improving delivery capacity, strengthening team structure, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and identifying where additional management focus or resources may be required.
- Contribute to the development of team processes, standards, best practices and governance improvements that support scalable, consistent and high-quality project delivery as the team grows.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen project delivery capability, improve team effectiveness and enhance operational resilience within the Project & Construction Management function.
Job Requirement
Education & Certification
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management or related built environment discipline.
- Professional certification in project management, construction management, engineering or related field will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 20 years’ large scale project and construction management experience in hospitality, integrated resort, commercial, retail, A&A or live operating environments.
- Proven delivery of complex projects from planning, procurement and construction through handover and closeout.
- Experience guiding and mentoring project teams, maintaining delivery standards and managing assigned key projects hands-on.
- Extensive experience in project controls, programme management, risk management, stakeholder coordination, contractor management, reporting, issue resolution and change management.
Other Prerequisites
- Strong practical knowledge of construction methodology, consultant coordination, procurement, contracts, cost, schedule, quality, safety and stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and presentation skills, including clear executive-ready presentations, reports and management updates.
- Sound judgement, professionalism and discretion in managing risks, escalations, confidential matters and commercially sensitive issues.
- Effective in fast-paced, complex live operating environments, with ability to undertake regular site walks and work within active construction / operational areas as required.
- Flexible to support project or operational needs outside regular hours, including nights or weekends where required.
- Strong proficiency in the following software tools & platforms:
- Microsoft Project: programme planning, sequencing, dependencies, schedule tracking and progress monitoring.
- Microsoft Excel: project controls, cost tracking, reporting, data analysis and dashboards.
- Microsoft PowerPoint: executive-ready project presentations and management updates.
- Bluebeam: drawing reviews, mark-ups, coordination comments and construction documentation review.
- Aconex: correspondence, submissions, workflows, document control and project records management.
