Director, Project Deveopment (Quebec & Atlantic Canada)
Description
Who We Are
At Corix, we design, build, and operate low-carbon district energy systems that heat and cool the places where people live, work, and learn. Headquartered in Vancouver, we deliver reliable, efficient energy to communities, campuses, and new developments across North America, helping them meet their climate goals without compromising on comfort.
We’re a dedicated team with a mission to cultivate enduring energy systems for communities to thrive. Our work is guided by four values: we put people first, we’re driven by curiosity, we’re committed to change, and we believe we’re built better together.
About the Role
Corix is expanding its district energy presence in Quebec. Reporting to the Vice President, Project Development and based in Montreal, this role serves as Corix’s senior representative in the province: our eyes and ears in the market, our ambassador, and a bridge between our established project team and local partners and stakeholders.
The role combines stakeholder engagement, business development, project development and strategic support, with a particular focus on helping Corix navigate Quebec’s municipal, provincial and business environment and advance district energy opportunities from early-stage identification through development and investment decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead French-language engagement with municipalities, provincial ministries and other key stakeholders.
- Build relationships with local consultants, contractors, developers and potential partners.
- Help Corix navigate Quebec energy policy, government programs, approvals and the broader political and stakeholder landscape.
- Support project advancement by understanding local issues, identifying risks and opportunities, coordinating key development activities and helping define practical paths to advance projects, and connecting the Corix team with the right people and resources.
- Strengthen Corix’s presence and network in Quebec and identify opportunities to build on the existing project pipeline.
- Provide regular market intelligence to the Vice President, Project Development, including policy and program changes, funding opportunities, competitor activity and emerging projects.
- Support business development and project development activities, including opportunity identification and qualification, early-stage feasibility and due diligence, development planning, commercial and partnership discussions, and, where required, proposal and RFP responses.
- Provide candid advice and recommendations on Quebec market strategy, stakeholder approach and potential partnership structures.
- Represent Corix at Quebec industry events, associations and public forums to build brand awareness and credibility.
- Collaborate with Project Development, Regulatory Affairs, Finance and Operations teams to ensure local insight is reflected in project planning and decision-making, and support coordination of project schedules, development priorities, consultants and key deliverables.
- Support the development of priority Quebec projects by coordinating with internal teams and external advisors on technical, commercial, regulatory, funding and stakeholder workstreams, and helping identify and resolve issues that could affect project advancement.
- Travel regularly within Quebec for stakeholder meetings, site visits and events; occasional travel to Atlantic Canada, Vancouver and other Corix locations to support project development activities as required.
