Director, Public Relations
Brick Director, Public Relations
About Brick...
Brick is transforming how people interact with technology—helping people minimize distractions, reclaim focus, and live more intentionally. Our physical device and companion app turn smartphones from sources of distraction into tools for presence and productivity.
We’re on a mission to help people take back control of their time and attention so they can focus on what matters most—and we’re building a team of thoughtful, driven people to make that happen.
Job Summary / About the Role:
We're hiring a Director, Public Relations, reporting to the Head of Brand, to own how Brick shows up in the press, in culture, and through our spokespeople. You'll set and run end-to-end communications strategy — from the always-on press engine to the comms plan behind every new product launch — and be the person who turns "Brick" from a growing brand into the defining name in digital wellness.
What You’ll Own:
- Communications Strategy: Own end-to-end communications strategy for Brick, from always-on press and thought leadership to reactive and crisis comms. Set the goals, pillars, and voice that guide every story we tell, and own the KPIs behind it — coverage volume, reach, share of voice, and sentiment.
- Spokespeople & Executive Visibility: Manage Brick's spokespeople, including building and protecting our founders' public presence and identifying, developing, and prepping additional internal spokespeople as the company scales.
- Category-Defining Consumer Communications: Drive the creative communications strategies that secure Brick as the leading brand in its space through cultural moments, thought leadership, and storytelling.
- Launch & Expansion Communications: Lead communications strategy for new product launches and brand expansion — new markets, channels, and partnerships — partnering with Product Marketing and Brand to make sure every launch has a press moment worthy of it.
Who You Are:
- You've run comms strategy end-to-end: You've owned communications strategy in-house or at an agency, ideally for a consumer or DTC brand, and can point to press, cultural, or category wins you drove.
- You know how to build and manage spokespeople: You've coached founders or executives for press and public moments, and know how to protect their time while making the most of it.
- You think culturally, not just tactically: You can spot the cultural moment or narrative that makes a brand the category-defining name, not just another player in the space.
- You manage agencies like an owner: You know how to direct and get the best out of an external PR team, not just receive updates from one.
- You're low ego and high ownership: You move seamlessly between strategy and execution, thrive in ambiguity, and bring the energy that makes the people around you better. DTC or consumer brand background strongly preferred.
This is a full-time hybrid role (preference for New York City or Chicago based candidates) with a $180,000-$210,000 annual base salary depending on experience and qualifications.
What we care about
We’re building a team of people who take ownership, move with focus, and care deeply about the quality and impact of their work. We hold a high bar, prioritize what matters, and believe the best ideas come from thoughtful, driven individuals who are trusted to execute.
Compensation & benefits
We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and comprehensive benefits for you and your family. We also prioritize flexibility, time to recharge, and a culture that supports both high performance and sustainable work.
If you’re excited about our mission and this role, we’d love to hear from you.
