Director, Tax
The Public Company Tax Director leads all tax strategy, tax accounting, compliance, and reporting activities for the Company. This role ensures accurate financial reporting of tax positions under U.S. GAAP, maintains compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws, and partners closely with Finance, Legal, and external advisors to optimize the Company’s global tax profile. This position plays a key leadership role in readiness and ongoing compliance for public-company requirements, including SOX controls and SEC-related tax disclosures.
Essential Functions:
Tax Accounting & Reporting (ASC 740)
- Oversee preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
- Ensure accurate deferred tax asset/liability recognition and valuation allowance assessments.
- Manage tax footnote disclosures for SEC filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q, S-1 if applicable).
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404).
Tax Compliance
- Lead all federal, state, local, and international tax return activities.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries; respond to regulators as needed.
- Ensure compliance with evolving tax legislation—including BEPS Pillar Two, state nexus expansion, and global intangible low-taxed income (GILTI).
Tax Strategy & Planning
- Evaluate and implement strategies to optimize effective tax rate (ETR).
- Support M&A due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition integration.
- Partner with Treasury, Legal, and FP&A to advise on business initiatives and entity structure.
- Monitor emerging tax laws and model impacts to the business.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage external provider relationships.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Legal, HR, and Operations to ensure tax compliance across business processes.
- Present tax matters, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and the Audit Committee (as applicable).
- Perform other duties as required.
- Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].

Qualifications and Competencies
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Security-U.S. Citizenship required.
- Deep knowledge of ASC 740, federal and state income tax rules, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with tax technology tools and ERP systems.
- Directs and provides expert knowledge in the strategic function of the department.

Education / Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including public company experience.
- Experience operating in a SOX controlled environment.

The Company provides a reasonable range of compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this position is for the listed location only.
