Director Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting
You will lead technical accounting and financial reporting activities, providing authoritative guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring accurate U.S. GAAP-compliant financial statements and disclosures. You will manage relationships with external auditors, own internal controls over financial reporting, support M&A accounting, implement reporting tools, and represent accounting in cross-functional strategic and transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting guidance for all company activities
- Lead and develop accounting staff and act as a subject matter expert
- Prepare and own internal and external financial reporting and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Lead policy initiatives and implement new accounting standards
- Support cross-functional strategic initiatives including product launches and new revenue models
- Own internal controls over financial reporting, maintain control narratives and remediate control gaps
- Participate in and present at audit committee meetings
- Manage external auditors and serve as primary auditor contact
- Support M&A due diligence and lead purchase price and opening balance sheet accounting
- Implement financial statement reporting tools such as Workiva
- Represent reporting and technical accounting in finance transformation and automation projects
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience including people management
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting requirements
- Expertise in technical accounting issues and public company readiness
- Exceptional technical accounting memo writing skills
- Proven leadership and ability to manage significant initiatives across the organization
- Ability to work cross-functionally to gather facts, assess business requirements and communicate accounting conclusions
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA required
- Experience with M&A due diligence and purchase accounting
- Prior experience in Banking, Broker-Dealer, or trading environments preferred
- Digital asset / cryptocurrency experience highly preferred but not required
- Experience with multinational and multi-currency accounting and complex business structures
- Familiarity with SOX compliance
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Basic SQL and experience with analytics tools
