Description

World Vision is hiring a Director of Technical Program Management to serve in the Digital Division.

AT A GLANCE
Role: Director of Technical Program Management
Reports to: AVP, Marketing & Fundraising Technologies
Location: Remote
Required Experience: Several years of direct experience as a Technical Program Manager or equivalent deeply technical program-leadership role, including hands-on systems thinking, high-level solution design, and leading cross-functional delivery teams. Deep fluency with Agile required; experience in a scaled Agile environment such as SAFe strongly preferred.
Preferred Experience: Experience delivering digital or customer-facing experiences; a track record partnering across both technical and creative/marketing teams; comfort at the intersection of business analysis, program management, product thinking, and people leadership.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A for any employer.
Estimated hiring range: $123,700 – $184,320

THE JOB
This is a leadership role first, built on a deep technical program management foundation. We are looking for a seasoned Technical Program Manager who is ready to lead the discipline rather than carry the programs alone: someone who will grow and mentor a team of technical program managers, own and continuously improve the system behind how we deliver, and raise the bar for the entire practice. You have lived the craft, with several years spent turning ambiguous business goals into high-level solution designs and decomposing complex work across delivery teams, so you lead from genuine technical depth rather than from a distance. You are equal parts systems thinker, business analyst, program leader, and technologist. You can sit with a marketing partner to shape what is possible, then turn to an engineering team and architect how it gets built. Alongside the AVP, you will steward a forward-looking roadmap of digital capabilities and step into the most complex work where your experience makes the difference. Your leadership shapes how tens of millions in annual fundraising opportunity gets delivered, and how a portfolio representing hundreds of millions in long-term donor value moves from idea to impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Keep Christ central. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual life of the organization, and incorporate World Vision’s core values into decisions within scope of the role.
Lead and grow the team. Coach, mentor, and develop a team of technical program managers; own their growth and build a consistent, high-performing discipline.
Own the operating model. Build and continuously improve the standards, cadences, and ways of working that make delivery repeatable and reliable, release after release.
Drive delivery at scale. Decompose complex work into streams across delivery teams and drive it to done using Agile practices and scaled delivery frameworks.
Partner with the business. Sit beside marketing, fundraising, and finance partners to understand their goals and co-solution the digital approaches that get them there.
Shape the solution. Apply deep systems thinking and high-level solution design to frame the technical approach before work begins, translating business goals into a clear path to build.
Steward the capability of roadmap. Partner with the AVP to shape a forward-looking roadmap of digital capabilities and steer each new request toward it.
Represent the discipline. Be the voice of technical program management across Digital and the wider organization, from delivery teams to senior leadership.
Stay close to the craft. Step into hands-on program work selectively, on the most complex and high-impact efforts where your experience makes the difference.

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS

Several years of hands-on experience as a Technical Program Manager, with genuine technical depth at the center of your work. The “T” in TPM is where you are most at home: you are drawn to the systems and the solution, not only the schedule.
A leader first. You are here to grow people and build a discipline, not just to run programs yourself. You have mentored others, built healthy teams, and raised the standard of an entire practice.
Deep systems thinking and high-level solution design. You can take a tangle of business needs and sketch the shape of a solution before a line of code is written.
Deep fluency with Agile, including operating at scale with frameworks like SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
The combined instincts of a business analyst, program manager, product thinker, and people leader in one person.
Preferred: experience delivering digital or customer-facing experiences, and partnering fluently across both technical teams and creative and marketing teams

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent (8 years) experience. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires 10 years of professional experience, including previous technical, business, and management experience. Requires demonstrated leadership and in-depth knowledge of technical program delivery, business operations, systems requirements, and the software development lifecycle.
