About the Role

Veho is seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly organized Director, Transportation & Warehouse Compliance to establish and lead our enterprise compliance program across transportation, warehouse operations, and carrier management.

Beyond day-to-day compliance, this leader will own the strategic roadmap for what Veho can support from a hazardous materials and package-handling standpoint, and will define the path to unlocking additional capabilities—whether that means securing different transportation or carrier authority (including air carrier authority) or other regulatory approvals needed to expand the network’s offerings.

This leader will build the governance framework that protects Veho from operational, regulatory, and legal risk while enabling the company to scale responsibly. Working closely with Legal, Transportation, Ground Operations, Procurement, Security, and Product, this role will establish compliance standards, strengthen hazardous materials and dangerous goods safety programs across the network, lead recurring audits across transportation operations, warehouse facilities, carrier partners, and operational processes, manage carrier credentialing, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop the investigative framework and guidance used by on-the-ground teams conducting lead investigations into operational and transportation-related investigations.

Unlike operational leadership roles responsible for daily execution, this position serves as an independent governance partner focused on oversight, auditing, policy development, and risk management. The Director will create the systems, controls, and reporting needed to ensure Veho consistently operates within regulatory requirements while continuously improving compliance across our rapidly expanding logistics network.

As regulations continue to evolve—including increased broker liability for carrier selection—this leader will play a critical role in protecting the business while enabling operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

Program Leadership & Governance

• Build and lead Veho’s enterprise Transportation & Warehouse Compliance program.

• Develop compliance policies, governance standards, and internal controls across transportation and warehouse operations.

Strategy & Capability Expansion

• Build and own the strategic roadmap for Veho’s hazardous materials and package-handling capabilities—defining what the network can support today and the sequenced plan to unlock new capabilities, including identifying and securing any additional transportation or carrier authority required to expand.

• Support the establishment of broker, motor, or air carrier authority, partnering with Legal, Transportation, and regulators to enable expanded air shipping capabilities.

Hazardous Materials & Dangerous Goods

• Oversee hazardous materials and dangerous goods compliance across the network, ensuring adherence to OSHA, DOT, 49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, EPA, and carrier requirements for the storage, segregation, labeling, packaging, transportation, and processing of hazardous materials.

• Develop and maintain standardized hazmat SOPs, work instructions, and operational playbooks, and validate hazardous materials data integrity including UN numbers, hazard classes, packing groups, and shipping requirements.

Carrier Management

• Own carrier credentialing and qualification processes, including verification of FMCSA operating authority, DOT/MC registration, insurance requirements, safety ratings, and regulatory compliance before carrier activation.

• Establish ongoing carrier monitoring programs to ensure operating authority, insurance, safety ratings, and compliance remain current throughout the carrier lifecycle.

Audits & Compliance Oversight

• Develop an enterprise compliance audit program across transportation operations, warehouses, carrier management, and operational processes, including hazardous materials handling, PPE, and material-handling equipment (MHE) operations.

• Design and maintain a network-wide carrier audit program, including scheduled audits, surprise audits, audit scoring, corrective action tracking, and executive reporting.

• Oversee compliance with OSHA documentation requirements, operational policies, chain of custody standards, driver verification procedures, package handling requirements, and facility compliance standards.

Investigations & Corrective Action

• Partner with Operations to develop, monitor, and verify corrective and preventative action plans (CAPAs).

Regulatory Affairs & Reporting

• Serve as the primary compliance partner supporting OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulatory inspections, agency inquiries, and legal investigations.

• Monitor changes in federal, state, and local transportation and workplace safety regulations, ensuring company policies evolve accordingly.

• Develop executive dashboards and KPIs measuring enterprise compliance, audit performance, carrier health, regulatory readiness, and operational risk, including hazmat compliance findings, corrective action closure timeliness, and training and certification completion rates.

• Present enterprise compliance trends, emerging risks, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Technology & Automation

• Partner with Product and Engineering to automate compliance monitoring, audit management, and carrier credentialing workflows.

• Support hazardous materials configuration within WMS and operational systems, including LQ/EQ classifications, shipment restrictions, package-level controls, and labeling logic.

Training & Client Enablement

• Build compliance training programs that reinforce regulatory requirements, operational standards, and company policies across the organization.

• Develop and deliver hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and safety training programs; certify and recertify employees on hazmat handling, packaging, labeling, and shipping; and support MHE certifications and new hire safety orientation.

• Partner with clients to support hazardous materials onboarding, operational readiness, and new site launches.

What You’ll Bring

Experience

• 8+ years (more is better!) of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, regulatory compliance, risk management, or related operational leadership.

• Demonstrated experience building or leading enterprise compliance, governance, audit, or operational risk programs.

• Experience managing carrier qualification and ongoing compliance monitoring programs.

• Experience supporting hazardous materials and dangerous goods operations, ideally within warehouse or 3PL environments.

• Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.

• Experience partnering with Legal, Operations, Procurement, HR, Safety, Security, and executive leadership.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of:

  • DOT compliance

  • Motor carrier authority (MC/DOT)

  • Carrier safety ratings (CSA/SMS)

• Strong analytical skills with experience building executive reporting and compliance dashboards.

• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), audit software, and compliance platforms, as well as safety management systems and inspection and reporting tools such as Lumiform, SharePoint SOP libraries, and Power BI.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Safety, Risk Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, 49 CFR Hazardous Materials, IATA Dangerous Goods, and CSP, ASP, CHMM, or CDGP (or equivalent).

Travel

This role involves travel of approximately 10–20%, varying based on operational needs, audits, onboarding support, investigations, training, and high-risk site assessments.
