Job Summary
The Managing Director is responsible for the overall management and performance of the company. The role oversees the company's business operations, financial performance, employees, business development, compliance, and strategic direction.
The Managing Director will ensure that the company operates efficiently, meets its business objectives, complies with applicable laws and regulations, and maintains strong relationships with clients, suppliers, business partners, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Company Management
Oversee the overall operations and management of the company.
Develop and implement business strategies, plans, and objectives.
Make key management decisions to support the company's growth and sustainability.
Monitor the company's overall performance and ensure business targets are achieved.
Establish company policies, procedures, and internal controls where required.
2. Business Operations
Oversee the company's day-to-day business activities and operational matters.
Ensure departments and employees carry out their responsibilities effectively.
Review and improve operational processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Resolve operational issues and make decisions on matters affecting the company's business activities.
Ensure the company maintains appropriate standards of service and business operations.
3. Financial Management
Oversee the company's financial performance, budgets, expenses, and cash flow.
Work closely with the company's accountants, finance team, and external professionals on financial matters.
Review financial reports and monitor the company's financial position.
Approve business expenses and expenditure within the company's authorised limits.
Ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained.
4. Human Resources & People Management
Oversee the company's workforce planning, recruitment, and employee management.
Set expectations and performance standards for employees.
Make decisions relating to hiring, promotion, disciplinary matters, and termination where appropriate.
Ensure employees comply with company policies and procedures.
Work with HR or external HR professionals on employment-related matters.
5. Business Development
Identify new business opportunities and potential partnerships.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, suppliers, and business partners.
Negotiate commercial arrangements and business agreements.
Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for business growth.
6. Compliance & Corporate Matters
Ensure the company complies with applicable Singapore laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Oversee corporate administrative matters, including dealings with banks, government agencies, professional advisers, and other external parties.
Work with the company's corporate secretary, accountants, lawyers, and other advisers where required.
Ensure important company documents, records, contracts, and approvals are properly maintained.
7. Stakeholder Management
Represent the company in meetings with clients, suppliers, government agencies, banks, business partners, and other stakeholders.
Maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders.
Act as a key decision-maker and representative of the company.
8. Strategic Planning
Develop short-term and long-term strategies for the company's growth.
Monitor industry and market developments.
Review business performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors / shareholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years of relevant management or business leadership experience.
Strong understanding of business operations and management.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Good financial and commercial awareness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple business functions and work with different stakeholders.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
