Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Dispatcher Planner As a Dispatcher Planner you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the movement of trucks and freight between cities in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. This role will work collectively with drivers and other Arcwood team members to ensure customers are serviced on time.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Plans inbound and outbound schedules to support the logistical needs of the organization
  • Prepares routes and calculates mileage for inbound and outbound scheduling
  • Maintains daily communications with all active drivers and associated team members; directs the pickup and delivery activities for active drivers
  • Troubleshoots and resolves potential pickup or delivery challenges before they result in service issues
  • Records and documents relevant information and distributes information to the appropriate department or location
  • Leads the process of communicating logistical or staffing needs to the appropriate team members or leaders
  • Coordinates with Customer Experience to schedule pickups, deliveries and operational needs to ensure the integrity of operational schedules
  • Enter all load information in real time for transparency and cooperation with other members of Transportation Department

  • Update driver payroll information through the software and serve as back up for the billing/payroll clerk

  • Maintain contract information for brokers

  • Network and build relationships with both employees and external customers by responding to inquiries and complaints regarding billing processes, notifications, billing issues, etc.

  • Assist Accounts Receivable Representative with questions or problems

  • Share “On-Call” duties after hours and on weekends in rotation with others in the Transportation Department for the purpose of fielding and solving OTR Driver issues

  • Work with internal teams to improve processes, discuss action plans, and/or contractual changes, and achieve organizational/department/team goals and objectives

  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Education

- High-school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field (required)
  • Previous experience in trucking and/or scheduling with knowledge of DOT hazardous waste regulations (preferred)
  • Current transportation market knowledge (understanding operating practices, structure, and management organization including knowledge of lanes and rates)

  • Geographical expertise, understanding of mileage as it relates to the passage of time, including DOT and speed governance
