Distributed Systems Engineer (C++) at BairesDev
We’re looking for a Distributed Systems Engineer who writes C++ and has firsthand experience with what happens inside a query engine when things get slow. You understand the layers between a SQL query and actual execution, you’ve profiled distributed workloads, and you know how to fix performance problems that don’t show up until you’re running at scale. You’ll be joining the team that builds and maintains query engine infrastructure for analytics environments that operate at some of the largest data volumes in the industry.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain distributed query processing components in C++, with a focus on correctness and performance.
- Profile query execution across distributed environments using tools like flame graphs and perf.
- Identify and resolve systemic performance bottlenecks in query pipelines and execution engines.
- Work with platform and data engineering teams to support high-throughput analytics use cases.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and help drive architectural decisions for distributed query systems.
- Write well-tested, maintainable C++ code and contribute to code quality through peer reviews.
What We Are Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in IT roles.
- 4+ years of experience developing distributed systems in C++.
- Understanding of query engine or database internals.
- Hands-on experience profiling and optimizing distributed workloads.
- Exposure to performance tooling such as flame graphs or Linux perf.
- Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts and trade-offs.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
