Summary:

Responsible for the management and logistics of the Distribution Center. The Manager is responsible for the performance and conduct of the store and dock employees. The manager must ensure appropriate employee performance by clearly explaining their duties and responsibilities, providing necessary training, scheduling their work effectively, and offering guidance when employees need to correct errors and improve their performance. The Distribution Center Manager will hire, promote, discipline, or terminate staff members when necessary. The manager should have a thorough understanding of the business to recognize what can cause sales to increase or decrease, as well as the actions typically needed to improve sales. The manager must be aware at all times of the store's degree of success or failure in achieving sales goals. Suppose the store is not performing as expected. In that case, the manager must take appropriate corrective actions to improve the situation in areas under their control or make positive recommendations for improvement in areas not under their control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs the collection and disposition of donated and purchased materials.
  • Monitors daily truck activities against established time and mileage standards.
  • Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) laws and regulations.
  • Oversees the fleet maintenance of trucks.
  • Supervises agency shipping and receiving.
  • Establishes, implements, and evaluates operational policies and procedures for all salvage activities.
  • Maintains compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Identifies safety issues and implements safety procedures to ensure an accident-free and safety-conscious workplace.
  • Consult with other Donated Goods Managers to ensure the quality and volume of incoming goods maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Initiates recruitment efforts, conducts interviews, and oversees final hiring reviews for all staff.
  • Recommends, initiates, and reviews personnel actions, such as hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and discharges.
  • Responsible for Miami or Broward outlet stores.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Leadership: The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the success of wholesale and dock operations for Miami-Dade or Broward. To succeed, the manager must possess the leadership qualities to guide store and dock personnel, as well as perform administrative duties, to ensure the attainment of goals. The manager must also lead by example in developing a disciplined, motivated workforce that can work harmoniously.

Administration: The Distribution Center Manager must operate the outlet store and dock area per established policies and procedures, adhering to sound business and commercial practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages 2-5 subordinate supervisors who supervise 50 employees in the Distribution Center. Is responsible for these units' overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Also directly supervises 25 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
