Distribution Centre Facilities and Equipment Technician
The OPERATIONS- Warehouse Technician Utility is responsible for maintaining the condition of the building and grounds for the Barrie Distribution Centre as well as all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) batteries. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of the battery room and batteries; operating the Zamboni machine on the warehouse floor as needed, the continuous monitoring for corrosion of batteries, as well as maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of all grounds.
Additional Information:
Shift: Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. Flexibility will be required.
This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.
- Maintain proper water levels in all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) equipment batteries
- Assistance with maintaining battery changers (as needed)
- Continuous monitoring for corrosion of batteries
- Maintaining interior of warehouse (limited to sweeping, scrubbing, and vacuuming)
- Operate Zamboni machine on the warehouse floor as needed
- Coverage of Janitorial functions as needed
- Maintain office area maintenance
- Maintain integrity and cleanliness of all grounds
- Assist in snow removal by cleaning sidewalks and entryways
- Attend monthly maintenance department meetings (as requested)
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and independently in a fast-paced work environment
- 1+ year experience in a warehouse or distribution centre environment
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push and pull on an occasional basis.
