Distribution Hub Manager

Job Summary
The Distribution Manager is responsible for the execution of distribution hub operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, transportation/logistics, and regulatory compliance, while delivering consistent, best-in-class service to internal and external customers that drives operational excellence and profitable performance. All Distribution Manager duties and responsibilities must be executed with a commitment to the values of Ascend Wellness Holdings and its subsidiaries, and in a manner that supports our team, customers, and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the distribution hub, including receiving, storage, order picking/packing, and outbound shipment of product to dispensaries and wholesale customers.
- Manage inventory accuracy and control, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and seed-to-sale tracking within the state's regulatory tracking system (e.g., METRC).
- Plan and coordinate transportation and delivery routes/schedules to ensure on-time, compliant, and cost-effective product movement between cultivation, processing, and retail locations.
- Ensure all distribution activities comply with state and local cannabis regulations, transportation manifests, chain-of-custody requirements, and company SOPs.
- Partner with Commercial, Sales, and Retail teams to forecast demand, prioritize order fulfillment, and resolve delivery or allocation issues.
- Track and report on key distribution KPIs (on-time delivery, order accuracy, fulfillment cycle time, inventory shrink) and drive corrective action plans when targets are missed.
- Manage the hub's budget, labor costs, and fleet/vehicle expenses through fiscal discipline, accurate reporting, and cost accountability.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and coach distribution/warehouse and driver staff; approve payroll, PTO, and overtime.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and secure facility, including proper handling and storage of product and equipment.
- Review and act on shipping manifests, invoices, and performance reports to identify process improvements and efficiency opportunities.
- Maintain vendor and third-party carrier relationships as needed to support distribution capacity and contingency planning.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or 7+ years' experience in lieu of degree, in a supervisory or management role in distribution, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, specifically with inventory management systems, order fulfillment, and transportation/route planning
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Cannabis industry working experience preferred but not required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Positive attitude, team player and strong work ethic
- Understanding of applicable state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures
- Must pass any and all required background checks
- Must be and remain compliant with any and all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by the state of operation
- Must have excellent organization and time management skills
- Must be focused, and detail oriented
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
Working Environment
This position primarily performs duties onsite in a licensed cannabis distribution hub/warehouse environment, and may require exposure to varying temperatures, loading dock areas, and the ability to lift and move product and equipment.
