District Engagement Manager

InnerOrbit (a RocketLit product)

InnerOrbit features the highest-quality NGSS assessments, phenomena, and 3D reports on the market. Districts trust us with something serious: the data they use to understand how their science instruction is working. We're growing, and we're hiring a District Engagement Manager to build new district partnerships and grow that trust.

This is a sales role, and we mean it. You'll take engaged leads and move them through demos, pilots, and PD to a signed partnership. We're looking for someone who reads a conversation in real time, hears the need underneath the question, and knows how to move a district leader from curious to committed. You'll do it as one of them, because you've been an educator, and because you understand assessment from the inside.

Who thrives here

You have a sales instinct. When a lead goes quiet, you know the next move. When someone's on the fence, you find the real hesitation and speak to it. When a conversation drifts, you follow it and bring it back. You're persistent without being pushy, and you close because you actually solve the problem in front of you.

You also have the credibility this buyer requires:

  • Experience as a science educator and/or administrator in K-12 education
  • A deep understanding of and passion for the NGSS and science education
  • Knowledge of assessment systems at the classroom, school, district, and state level, including how assessment has contributed to the marginalization of historically underserved communities
  • The ability to speak to teachers and leaders with empathy, as one of them
  • Deep listening and persistence as core habits
  • A growth mindset and a genuine hunger for feedback and coaching
  • The adaptability to work in a fast-changing market, where you stay curious, ask good questions, and adjust as new information and priorities come in

What you'll do

  • Grow InnerOrbit revenue by acquiring and managing school and district pilots
  • Build and work your own list of target districts, researching what they are actually dealing with in science assessment before you ever reach out
  • Own consistent outbound through calls and email, framing InnerOrbit around the district's real problem rather than a generic pitch
  • Take warm leads through demo, pilot, and close, with disciplined follow-up at every stage
  • Run consultative district conversations: demo the platform, surface the real need, and provide the PD and training that drives pilot success
  • Keep a clean, honest pipeline and know exactly where every deal stands and why
  • Partner with marketing, accounts, and content to build the sequences and materials that move districts from evaluation to partnership
  • Travel up to 15% for conferences, regional events, and district-level sessions
