Division Manager - Pricing & Commercial Analytics
Description
Key responsibilities:
1. Strategy & Pricing Governance
Define the division’s vision, multi-year pricing intelligence roadmap, annual plan and priorities, aligned with BIC and Group commercial strategy.
Own the pricing governance framework: SKU pricing-role classification (Traffic Builder, KVI, EDLP, Promotion, Normal Margin Builder), price-index methodology, competitor data and SKU-matching standards, with Commercial-approved pricing logic.
Set the standards and control points for validating AI price-decision recommendations before they reach Commercial; approve escalation rules for anomalies and ensure drivers are explainable.
Ensure consistent definitions, methodologies and single sources of truth for price, margin and promotion metrics across business units and formats.
2. Commercial Impact & Decision Support
Direct the delivery of pricing and commercial decision-support products (Price Dashboard, Focus Product Board, Price Index, margin views and scenario simulations) with agreed data freshness and accuracy.
Sponsor price elasticity, cross-elasticity, basket-impact, promotion and markdown analytics in partnership with the Data Science team, and ensure results are applied in commercial decisions.
Present insights, recommendations and business cases to senior Commercial, Finance and executive leadership; influence pricing, promotion, assortment and margin-mix decisions with evidence and commercial judgment.
Be accountable for post-implementation measurement of price and promotion actions and for tracking realized sales, margin, price-index and ROI benefits.
3. People Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, coach and evaluate Department Managers; set clear objectives and KPIs, delegate accountability, and build a succession pipeline.
Allocate resources and workload across departments according to business priorities; balance pricing-anchored work with broader BIC analytics requests.
Build analytical capability: hiring plans, skills development, standard methodologies, documentation of analytical logic, and knowledge sharing across BIC.
Foster a culture of data quality, evidence-based decisions, collaboration and continuous improvement.
4. Stakeholder Partnership, Delivery & Risk
Partner with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Data Science and BI Development leaders to align priorities, definitions, service levels and joint initiatives.
Oversee end-to-end delivery from problem definition through recommendation, implementation tracking and outcome measurement; resolve cross-functional escalations and conflicting priorities.
Own data accuracy, controls and audit-readiness for pricing outputs; manage analytical, data and model risks and ensure repeatable, documented processes.
Manage the division’s budget, tools and vendor/technology needs; champion adoption of modern BI, Databricks and advanced analytics capabilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Master’s degree/MBA is an advantage.
10-15 years of experience in pricing, revenue management, commercial analytics, data analytics or business intelligence, including at least 5 years leading teams and managing managers or senior specialists.
Proven record of delivering measurable commercial impact (sales, margin, price index, promotion ROI) through analytics; retail/FMCG experience strongly preferred.
Deep understanding of pricing strategy, price elasticity, promotion effectiveness, margin management and retail commercial concepts.
Solid grounding in data and analytics platforms and methods (SQL, Power BI or other BI tools, Python, Databricks) and statistical techniques such as regression, hypothesis testing, forecasting and experimentation, sufficient to challenge and guide the team and AI-driven recommendations.
Strong executive presence: strategic thinking, stakeholder management, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills at senior management level.
