Domain Architect – Accounting & Tax
Summary
A senior domain architect role at TMF Group defining the target-state architecture and roadmap for accounting & tax platforms — designing financial data models, statutory/regulatory reporting (local GAAP, IFRS) and e-invoicing integrations across jurisdictions. - Define the target-state architecture and roadmap for A&T platforms, aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
- Design financial systems, tax workflows and e-invoicing / e-reporting integrations across jurisdictions.
- Lead solutioning for regulatory reporting and statutory compliance, including local GAAP and IFRS reporting outputs.
- Define the standardized financial data model – chart of accounts, ledgers, multi-entity and multi-currency – underpinning accounting and reporting.
- Architect integrations with:
- ERP and client finance systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, local finance systems)
- Government / tax authority platforms and e-invoicing networks
- Embed data-accuracy, reconciliation and audit controls across the platform.
- Govern solutions through the TDA / ARB process, producing solution design documents and architecture decision records.
- Direct and mentor development teams through the delivery of highly scalable, resilient and secure enterprise solutions, upholding engineering excellence, performance, reliability and security-by-design standards.
Must-have skills (domain)
- Accounting processes – Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) plus statutory bookkeeping, general ledger, reconciliation and financial-statement preparation under local GAAP and IFRS.
- Tax compliance across jurisdictions – corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax, statutory filings and tax-calendar / obligation management.
- Digital-tax mandates – e-invoicing and e-reporting / real-time reporting regimes and their integration implications.
- Close & consolidation – period-close, intercompany, consolidation and multi-entity / multi-currency processing.
- ERP integration experience – across major finance platforms and client systems.
- Data modelling – strong data modelling for audit, reconciliation and regulatory reporting.
Technology requirements
- Azure data layer [SN2] – Azure SQL, Synapse / Microsoft Fabric and Data Lake / Storage, with supporting data-integration services. Awareness of AWS is nice to have.
- API-led integration (MuleSoft preferred) – system, process and experience APIs, with API design and lifecycle management.
- Enterprise solution architecture and design – across cloud-native, microservices and event-driven patterns.
- Security & compliance – security-by-design and awareness of the regulatory drivers relevant to TMF's operating model (DORA, GDPR) and of data residency across jurisdictions.
- AI & GenAI awareness – working understanding of AI/ML and generative-AI capabilities (LLMs, AI agents, RAG, classification and extraction models) and how they apply to accounting, tax and compliance workflows – e.g. document extraction, reconciliation, anomaly detection and tax-rule interpretation. Able to critically evaluate vendor AI offerings, distinguishing genuine capability from marketing and assessing model accuracy, hallucination and bias risk, explainability, human-in-the-loop controls, training-data provenance and data-handling. Assesses AI solutions against EU AI Act, DORA and GDPR obligations before embedding them into regulated financial processes.
