DOMESTIC VIOLENCE STAFF ATTORNEY -Valdosta, GA

Georgia Legal Services Program’s (“GLSP”) mission is to provide civil legal services for Georgians with low incomes, creating equal access to justice and opportunities out of poverty. GLSP seeks a domestic violence staff attorney with at least three (3) years of legal experience to work in Valdosta, Georgia.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Litigate cases in administrative, state and federal forums, with a focus on domestic violence survivors;
  • Case work will focus on domestic violence cases, but also encompass kinship cases, elder law cases and other legal issues affecting domestic violence survivors;
  • Draft briefs, motions, and memoranda;
  • Conduct community legal education sessions and engage in outreach activities; and
  • Participate on action teams that explore and solve systemic issues affecting clients.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited law school;
  • Admission to the Georgia Bar, or willingness to sit for the next exam;
  • Reliable vehicle and driver’s license; and
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
