DOMESTIC VIOLENCE THERAPIST
JOB DESCRIPTION: Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments, therapy, counseling, and support services to individuals assigned to his/her caseload.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Schedule and Conduct regular appointments with clients
- Able to conduct individual, family, couples, and group sessions
- Establish positive and trusting relationships with clients
- Implement various treatments and protocols to provide guidance and appropriately address client needs
- Ability to accurately diagnose based on client’s symptoms
- Continually assess client situations and provide the proper ongoing treatments
- Educate and involve family members or other loved ones in the treatment process when necessary
- Collaborate with outside agencies, as necessary, to ensure continuity of care
- Record and maintain adequate documentation (intake forms, biopsychosocial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes, mental health inventories, etc.)
- Maintain neat and organized client files and workspace
- When required, refer clients to outside sources or agencies that can better address their specific needs
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality of each client
- Maintain all required licenses
- Provide mental health related trainings and attend community meetings as needed
- Participate in weekly supervision and staff meetings
- Assist with outreach efforts
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Graduate Degree
EXPERIENCE: 1 Year
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field preferred
- Meet all necessary state licensure requirements for NJ
- Experience providing treatment to victims of domestic violence
- Minimum of one-year therapy experience in an outpatient or in-home setting.
- Must have experience with utilizing short-term therapy modalities.
- Knowledgeable of the DSM-5
- Must obtain personal liability insurance upon hiring
